Bathroom Furnace Vent Addition E19

While sorting out my Atwood furnace woes I decided to tackle a heating upgrade for using the trailer in the cooler months. The spillover heat to the bathroom from the main salon heating duct does little to warm the enclosure, especially if you want to dry towels and wet baths here in the PNW cooler months. I added a 2" duct to the bathroom wall right beside the furnace box knockout. This is effectively 3 sq in of opening. Louvered rotating faceplate vent has a flange I gasket sealed to wall. The 2" Thetford vent is 4" at face and tapers to 2" hose. Design will allow any water to drain back to the bathroom.

The furnace running provides the bulk of the heat to salon, however, there is a nice side flow to bathroom. I can rotate duct plate to towel bar or upward for clothes line drying. Floor in bathroom now will be warm getting up in the morning.

Yes, the bath has always been a cold spot in the winter, now there is hope...may have to copy this idea!

My furnace in the 2017 E 19 is an Atwood and access is pulling from inside. First step is to remove front grill framing to assess furnace box knockout location along bathroom wall. I had interference with my bathroom sink drain right where the knockout was. This necessitated removing inside floor and dropping drain below. The stack for drain is right in corner adding to plumbing complexity. You will need a 2" reducer for your furnace knockout if copying mine. Once I had a clear cabinet wall I had to accurately site for Thetford vent centred on the 2" furnace outlet. There was a cabinet wall, with space to bathroom wall adding up to about a 31/2" separation. I used a poly pipe to bridge this gap allowing vent duct with extension to slide over furnace outlet. What you see is the Thetford vent outlet with added gasket screwed onto bathroom wall. Unfortunately I could only find black so had to paint white.

Hope this is a decent description of steps needed.
