Bathroom Night Light Ideas?
We have a 2017 Escape 21 with the new style LED overhead lights. Turning on the overhead light in the bathroom in the middle of the night is simply not working - way too bright.
I am looking for a way to wire in a small red LED night light for our bathroom.
Any ideas?
In our 2012 19, I used cpaharley2008's method in the old style lights:

I bought a Maxxima LED Multi-Color Red, White, and Blue LED Night Light With Switch and Dusk to Dawn Sensor on Amazon. It's switched to red. I leave it plugged in at the socket at the end of the kitchen counter. The flip up table covers most of it lights. The red light does not affect my night vision, but provides sufficient lighting to get down the stairs and use the facilities at night.

We use a battery powered motion detection night light in the bathroombut I also colored the light lens red with a magic marker for the same reason as Donna gave. It is set on the sink pipe in the bathroom and pointed towards the floor to further reduce the light level.
In our 2017 21, all the LEDs on control panels etc. in the main room provide all the lighting we need to get around out there. We even taped over a few.

We used high temp photo gel film to make red nightlights in the trailer, including in the bathroom: Mods I Haven't Seen Elsewhere

Too much light, are you kidding? I need all that brightness to work on crossword puzzles in there at 3:30am.

You can still use the same install as we did 2012, it is just a little harder as the connection is up in the hole, I managed to pull mine out and connect the red led and reinsert in the new style units. It is on all the time and the switch operates the white light portion.

I have a bag of yellow and red LED 'votive candles' that are powered off CR2032 batteries and can be left on for weeks. I use 2-3 of the yellow ones in the camper as night lights, including one propped up on the sink, and turn them all off in the morning and put them away. the red ones get used as safety markers around my telescope at really dark sites when I'm doing astronomy, or as path markers at public star parties, like here...
(note this photo makes them look pink, Andreo's camera has its IR filters removed so its more sensitive to deep reds and they show up as pink).

That is what we do as well. One we have can be pointed down to the floor, so it doesn't shine in one's eyes.

Mr Beams stand anywhere.....motion sensor and not blinding.
They also have an amber color light which is even less disruptive

We use some little white velcro dots to adhere a small fabric cover over the bath fixture. We just put it on the light when we go to bed and take it off in the morning. This approach allows you to use whatever color, pattern, or thickness of fabric you want to control the quality of the light. We had "moon and stars" fabric up there at one point.

Amber motion Mr Beams (amazon) is amazing.
mounted it under the sink, on exterior wall, so not blinding.
works 100% perfectly
amber is good to not wake up the brain in middle of night. for real
cureently $15 for the amber. worth the few extra $ to get the amber, for sure.

We use an LED candle (Costco) . . . you can set the on/off time either 5 or 10 hours. Soft, gentle glow; works great!

I cut a piece of white paper to the size of the light cover and put it inside the cover. This dims the light but it is still bright enough to shower and use the mirror. If you want the light dimmer, put two sheets of paper inside the cover.

Before I go to bed I switch my headlamp to it's red light. Also, I have several of the usb plug-ins around my 17B and the little green LED lights from them give off plenty of light to see around the trailer. So I rarely need my headlamp after dark unless I'm in the bathroom.

I replaced the white bulb in the range hood with a red bulb. The range light is used when rigging for red and preserving night vision. The overhead light above the counter provides white light when needed.

We just have a stick-on night light that you push to click on and off. Much softer light than the bright overhead. On the left side as you enter, it's easy to switch on.
