bedside storage
Hi Everyone,
Where do folks put their eye glasses, kindles/books, flashlights, hearing aids etc at night (the things you might need in the middle of the night)? That is, what kind of storage solutions have folks come up with for storing this type of stuff so it's within hand's reach? I've seen "envelopes" that hang off the bed, but since the bed is pushed up against three walls (in the 21), these won't work. Thanks for any and all suggestions!
Linda

I made an envelope (with pockets) out of our leftover upholstery fabric. It has a slot across the top to run a small dowel. Then the dowel rests on two Command hooks attached to the bedside wall. It works great and stayed up even while traveling. I can't take a photo right now. I'll send one later if my description is fuzzy.

We put everything you mentioned (except hearing aids, don't need those - yet) in the standard shelf above the head of the bed. Works perfect for us for those things.

Found it! We are cleaning the trailer getting ready to sell it and upgrade to another Escape so I wasn't sure where it was. Hope it helps.

That's a great idea Eric and Linda! Thanks.
War Eagle, we are having a window put in front, so don't think we will have the shelf (just the cabinet above window). Thanks.

This is similar to something I was thinking of making, but turned out I didn't need to. Mine was going to go across the entire head of the bed. But, since the OP is getting a window, that won't work.
I'm able to stash stuff in a small bin at the head of the bed as I have a Select Comfort bed which is a bit shorter than the platform. I've put some foam in the middle to keep my pillow from falling down, with a bin on one side for stuff like glasses, travel alarm, etc. The other side has my sound machine to block out noises that would otherwise keep me awake.
Most folks don't have a Select Comfort bed in their trailer, so you're not going to be able to use my solution. But, put hanging pouches on the wall will work. There's tons of options that you can purchase if you're not handy with the sewing machine.

You can reinforce the bath wall and mount magazine racks and shelfs for personal items without worry for mounting issues. Or use Command strips and the plastic tubs for phones and glasses.

That shelf will have a lot more utility use than the window which you will probably close at night as well as when traveling, whereas that shelf is available 24/7/365

But Jim, the shelf doesn't let light in ...

Between the huge side window you will have lots of light but not much privacy with the front blinds open. If I did it again I'd get the extra window over the night stand, that looks perfect for that dark spot.

I have a small command hook tray that holds glasses, flashlight, and other small items.
I also have another bigger clear one shaped for file folders - I use it for magazines and my Kindle.

Hi Jim
When Rita yells at me for not pulling the blinds down I simply state that anyone looking in is seeing the best man they'll see all week. She rarely argues but laughs a lot. We store most frequently used items in the cubbies by the door and a few things in plastic holders command stopped to the wall. First thing I do is turn on a corner captains light and seeing gets a lot easier.
