Blind replacement

Just talked with United Shade again today. The rep (different one than the one I talked with before) says they do not ship to RV owners, only to RV dealers and that we have to order replacement shades/blinds through ETI. Problem is, ETI won't order replacement shades/blinds for us, at least that's what I've been told by ETI. I called an RV dealer near my home and was told they don't have specs for shades for ETI trailers, so they cannot order replacement shades. So the only RV dealer that has said specs is ETI and they're not sharing them. How are we supposed to order replacement shades?

Hi: Donna D... "For your eyes only". Talking about in the "Sticks". We just shopped at Blinds To Go to pick out new cellular room darkening shades for the bedrooms. The colour we picked is off white!!! Alf

Cellular shades / blinds

When we were doing our build, Escape had just changed the shades to a darker 'beige/tan" colour. I preferred the original lighter colour that matched the vinyl walls - it made it feel more spacious as there was less contrast. I also didn't like seeing that colour from the outside, when the shades were down. Fortunately they still had some of the old colour left in the factory and they agreed to install them instead. Blackout was not realistic for the shades as when I wanted privacy, I didn't want to restrict any amount of light coming during the day especially since Reece said they couldn't install ceiling lights which I considered an obvious necessity. Instead we changed all our lighting to double led fixtures in bright white. For sleeping purposes, I need total darkness so I added blackout drapes which I think look quite nice framing the shades when not in use. Eventually everything comes around. I had specific ideas about what I wanted for counters, flooring and black edging (not the stock beige) and Reece agreed if I supplied them, he would install them. Now they do lights in the ceiling and the trim options I provided (black trim, flooring and counter top choices) are pretty well standard. However, being at the factory many times since, I understand how difficult it is to allow too many options. It affects the entire production schedule especially if something that was supposed to be on site isn't there at the point in production. There isn't really anything you can't add yourself at a later point and there's lots of people on this forum willing to help.
Compared to other trailer manufacturers out there, we're pretty spoiled. Many have no options for personalizing. I remember being worried about offending Tammy and Reece because I did not want that large Escape 17 decal on the front window cover. I finally got up the nerve to mention it and Tammy just laughed and said "No-one's every asked that but it's your trailer and if you don't want it, we won't put it on." So no harm asking but it may simply not be feasible at the manufacturing stage.

your curtains do look nice and i am not a curtain person! i can sleep with some light but in my 17 B the fridge lights used to irritate me but they are far away in the 5.0 so I'm OK.

Had the same issue with the lights on our stereo, and too much light coming through the window in the door and the one over the sink. Using the leftover curtain fabric, I made flaps that attach with Velcro to block out the light. We truly have gone over to the dark side, at least for sleeping purposes.

I am one to just adjust my sleep schedule to that of the sun, rather than deal with artificial measure to simulate this. Having always been one to sleep when the sun is down, and awake when it is down, I have never fully understood the need for total darkness in a trailer. Even up here in Calgary, the longest day of the year sees sunrise at 5:21 and sunset at 9:54, a perfect opportunity for sleeping. As it is we have started using the nightlight on our range hood when real dark out, to make those nighttime trips less dangerous . In the 5.0TA though, this does not shine directly into the loft though.

This is not a knock at all to those with trouble sleeping with light, just a curious point of view from one who sees things different.

I wonder if fabric paint would work. I saw a video once where someone painted a chair.

Painting the blinds could make the interior noisier by plugging the soft surface. If you have AC, that could be a problem.
