I buy a lot of hardware from Richelieu for work. There is a big warehouse here in town, but I usually just get it shipped as it costs less than the minimum 90 minute trip to the warehouse.

With most of these hinges it is quite easy to remove the spring if desired.

Not to be a wet blanket but at least on older Escapes like us. Anyone check their hinges lately ? I noticed on ours when doing last mods , our hinges are rusting . We live in California ,use venting and dryers in trailer . Not spending money on more hinges . Will need to clean them up and put a clear finish on them and hope I don't have to paint them . PT

Unlike some others, I am not unhinged.

Me either Baggy. Just wish there was an option to spend another <$50 for better hinges, or another $20 for a real Atwood coupler. Definitely do not advise buying the aluminum rims either as mine have corroded after two years.

Just did a preliminary dry-test on my bathroom door. Want to use the same screw holes. Looking like some door trim trimming will be needed. Expect a stronger, wider swinging, successful replacement of the cheapo Escape ones will hinge upon the heftier but slightly smaller (Pix2) Home Depot Liberties.

The prime issues here seems to be: are we willing to cut into the door trim to seat the Liberty hinge, (not reversible) and, how to mask the other holes left by the Escape hinge, and, after that's done, will the door latch still match up? We shall see.

I thought that a recent post about installing new hinges said they didn't cut the trim and the latch lined up perfectly without adjustment.
Sometimes when I have an unwanted screw hole etc. I just put in a screw with or without a flat washer. If it looks like it has a purpose it's better than an empty hole.

Right, so it was a surprise when the Liberty hinge would not line up when using the old screw holes. Also note, old hinge is bent to fit around the door trim, new hinge is flat. Have no desire to fill in the old holes and drill new ones a few millimeters over for the Liberty one.

What do you mean "oops"? I prefer to call them design modifications.
I know what you mean, I'd hate to drill new holes also. The ETI method of bending and installing the hinges over the door trim seems mickey mouse to me. I'd cut the trim and have the hinges sit flush. But, hey, it's easy to tell someone else to hack up their trailer.

Just to be clear, Escape long ago moved away from the bent hinges for those looking and wondering.

Myron and Jim,
Thanks for sharing the bathroom door (BD) hinges part numbers. I bought the Liberty hinges from Home Depot and installed them without difficulty. The BD is very steady and secure. I did not cut the trim. I used cushion pads for the gap and filled the screw holes with wood filler and light wood stain. It turned out very nice and recommend this mod. Thanks.

What year did they do this? I think mine are still like Myrons, but I'll have to go look.
