Can a window be added to an older Escape trailer
Hello. New here. Wondering if anyone has insight into whether or not an additional window can be added to an existing Escape trailer, well after initial build?? Thanks for any help with this!

Anything is possible with enough time, skill and money . Actually, I know several folks that added a kitchen window to the 1st gen 19'. Which trailer are you thinking about?

Understood about the time/money aspect!!! Hoping for "reasonably" HA. 21C -- thinking we might like to add a window to the front, over the bed.

P.S. No personal skill, so would be relying on others.

That should be no problem to do. Much easier than adding a bathroom window.
I will see if I can find you a video…

I added a bath window which was difficult due to the outer shell and interior bath liner to cut through and align. Your front window can be done if meticulously planned and very carefully executed. Escape uses a fixed, single pane window with rock guard. I recommend looking into acrylic which will be operable and still seal well enough when driving into rain. They are also double pane and have less thermal conductance so you should have less condensation in cold weather. See what Johnny Hung did. He replaced an existing window but it might be easier starting without one because sizing is less critical. He used Arctic Tern windows www.ternoverland.com/arctic-tern-windows

Hi: JLG... You shouldn't have a leak... if you don't put a window there. Alf

Yes -- there is always the "leave well enough alone" advice....
However, we are heartened to know it has been done successfully already -- and a video, to boot!!
Thank you all very much for your responses. This community seems exceptional and we really appreciate your generosity.

As far as a front window, remember the view there usually isn't that great, unless you absolutely love your tow vehicle and like being nosey with people going down the road. It will also need a rock guard or possibly and acrylic window.
I almost never open the front window on my Escape 19.

Thank you for your "real life" feedback/insight. We do really like our F150 TV, but its butt-end is not all that fascinating, for sure.

I wouldn't have a 21C without a front window. Contrary to other comments, there's often a view out the front window even from the rear dinette.
I'm looking forward to replacing mine with the new opening acrylic one.

Wow! Thank you Ron, Bill and Cindy -- this is very encouraging, while also more than a bit daunting! If we go down this road, doing it RIGHT will obviously be the key to maintaining the trailer's integrity. Again, we SO appreciate all of your shared opinions, experiences, insights, thoughts on this!
Yours in constant discovery,
J.L.

Back in Apr 2023, we were considering a used 2018 21C that didn't have some of the options we wanted.
-Front storage box
-Bathroom window
-Front window with rock guard
I contacted Escape and spoke with a parts staff member and enquired if these items could be added after the initial build and if Escape would complete the installs. He looked into the matter and discussed with Escape service staff and provided the following info.
-Front storage box could be purchased and self installed with no issues (reasonable priced as I would pick up at the factory and install myself, I'm sure shipping would add quite a bit to the cost).
-Bathroom window could be installed with no issues (self install or another shop as Escape would not have resources to do it).
-Front window and rock guard could not be installed easily as blocking for front window that would be installed during the initial build would not be there. Again it would not be something they would take on.
So as others have mentioned anything can be done for a cost and the acrylic window would be a nice choice. If you do end up getting a window installed, please provide the process and some pictures.

I think that what's changed is that Karl is now considering doing retro-fits, specifically with the new acrylic windows. In my case it would be supplying for DIY installation.

That's great to hear that Escape is considering acrylic retro-fits.
Looking at a used 2017 21 in May, I also reached out to Escape regarding changing out a power awning to the manual and they indicated it could be done but they would not be able to complete the work.
So hard to find a used Escape with all the options one wants. And unfortunately with the new high prices the used prices seem to be going for more than what was paid at new, so too many after purchase additions makes the used unit not so worth it.
Ron, on another option (spray foam insulation), I saw your rigid foam insulation posts I believe on your previous 19. Did you also do this for your 21C or did you get the factory spray insulation option?
