Looks like a duplex to me

Or a roadhouse rig. Interesting.

Now, imagine sitting behind the wheel on an eight per cent grade for 12 miles.

Before the Isuzu we used a huge hand me down ( worn out) municipal packer for a few months out of the year and used ton trucks in the off season. Ever dump a garbage can with a sleeping skunk in it over the side of a ton truck? Good times.

Tacoma owners might be interested in this guy doing conversions.

He’s only on Instagram @atc4x4

... and Facebook. It is also mentioned in various forums - just search for atc4x4 if interested.

The Tacoma seems low on payload for this sort of application to me, repeating the overloading issues of Class C motorhomes built on compact trucks decades ago, but if properly done it could be a good RV for the right user.

my kid's work in progress. started MIG welding the frame right after new years... frame is all 6061-t6 box section, exterior skins are 11 ga alum sheet metal. The F550 6.7 diesel 4x4 will be getting 20" rims with supersingles once he's figured out his target GVWR (he's hoping he can keep it under 15000 lbs, rather than the original 19900 lbs of the chassis cab so he can use "F" instead of "G" tires, as it gives him more sizes to work with).

oh, and the back opens like a toybox so he can load his motorcycle inside.

Truck campers rock.

we now own this

not seen in pics is large fridge freezer on driver side aft

and shower/toiler on passenger side aft.

plenty of space for the 3 of us.

that is an AluCab outdoor shower on drivers side exterior - so we actually have 2 showers.

Passenger side has a AluCab 270 (degree) 'Shadow' awning that is crazy sturdy - being out in torrential rain or 40 MPH winds = no issues (with no support legs needed)
and the awning covers the passenger side and wraps around to cover the rear door so in the rain we can come in and out - covered from the rain.

Can you pick up a quart of milk for me? I don't want to pack up myself.

LOL

In a truck camper you simply PLAN ahead so you don't need to go get milk. You have enough. Very easy.

plus it takes 30 seconds to drop the roof and drive. Really no big deal.

We are able to go camping places no one could go towing an Escape sized travel trailer....

each RV has plusses and minuses. There is no perfect RV.

this suits us the best.
