If your grossed out by poo...then I don't think a composting toilet is for you.

We've had no problems going 10-12 days with our black and grey water tanks. It's called "conservation."
With the small tanks of those toilets, sooner or later you're dumping a composting toilet where it's not environmentally friendly, especially if you're out 8-10 days. Now that's gross, so I guess composting is not for me, and please don't let me see you dump or you'll find out what rude is.
Enjoy,
Perry

Can you feel smug that you are helping the environment, with your composting throne, while you, me, we all wreck it to smitterns? Save your water, save your waste, do as you please, but take a look at the whole scenario.
Crap.

Now that's reality!

Seems like people are hung up on this water conservation issue and composting toilets. When I decided to go with composting, it wasn't for water conservation. That is just a side benefit. It was my method of camping for extended periods that didn't allow me to dump my black water tank at those intervals, or carry a secondary waste container. If you routinely stay at RV parks with dumps, or don't stay out that long, then you probably don't have a waste disposal problem. I've seen lots of blogs and comments about alternatives ranging from a bucket and cat litter to storage containers, and dumping grey water on the ground, etc. But those are separate blog threads and have their own threads. I used 8-10 days as a number out of the blue. Anyone that boondocks knows that the time they can stay out depends on lots of factors that are different for everyone. Sorry about the MPH versus MPG snafu...dam auto correct didn't catch it, lol.
As I tried to explain...you need to know your requirements for how to handle all of your wastes. I would hope most of us are intelligent enough to know and follow the local, state, and federal rules/regulations on all our wastes. Being a "Karen" in a blog thread isn't the answer.

But, insulting anyone who disagrees with you is the answer?

I personally enjoy dialogue, as long as its respectable. Although I realize there is a fine line between offering an opinion and telling someone what to do. Email with emoge's just doesn't make it better and written communication is tough to discuss touchy subjects. Please accept my apologies if I've come off as a Karen as I've tried to just express my response to the initial question asked, and subsequent responses.

First off 'Karen' actually describes a racist white woman who calls the police on 'black' people doing everyday things. It has been hijacked to mean any one complaining about anyone's behavior justly or unjustly. So, honestly your use of the term 'Karen' alone is offensive.

Or maybe end the thread too much griping about anothers choice instead of helping as we’re supposed to do here

Please refer back to post #16. No, I am not psychic, and neither are the other moderators as far as I know (although Donna does sometimes display magic powers ). No, I have just been reading this forum long enough to know when a thread topic is one that will inevitably lead to argument and politics, because I've seen it too many times before.
Thread Closed.
