Design ideas for the "stripper pole"

I would like to design something useful for the pole found in most Escapes. I had in mind a set of storage trays that could rotate around the pole for holding dish and hand soap, dish rags, sink scrubbies, etc. I could also make a phone holder, since there is generally an outlet below the pole. Perhaps a bracket to hold a fan? A paper towel dispenser? Has anyone found any good uses? Any other ideas for it?

Stripper poles have been installed since about 2015 and there's been lot's of folks post mods using the pole for extra uses.

Personally I find the most useful aspect, aside from giving extra support for the weight of the overhead cabinets, to be a grab bar as I exit. I've avoided adding anything to it so that I don't run the risk of grabbing something other than the pole.

Drying towel holder.

Hat shown for display purposes as the trailer doesn't have any drying towels in it right now

How about a vertical dish rack for drying dishes? I guess it could have vertical stays at an angle and hold them up toward the door so they would dry...?

Friends of ours who owned a 21C ran a small battery powered string of tiny LED bulbs spiraled around the pole. It provided a nice visual effect.

Hi: brjohnso... As I age, my use for the pole has changed. Now I simply use it as an additional hand hold for easier entry/exit. Any other use is just a fleeting memory!!! Alf

Numerous items are available on Amazon for attaching to things such as microphone stands and strollers. We added these to our pole some time ago.

Excellent suggestion! I suspected that mic stand accessories might be compatible. It's good to know that they work well! I really like the little shelf shown with the space heater.

You could also look at accessories designed to clamp on light stands and similar style supports used in photo/video studio applications.....

We have a portable battery powered fan with a big clip as the base. It moves all over the place, including sometimes on that pole.

All this talk about stripper pole reminds me of the early days when they came into being. 2013/14 there were gelcoat cracks happening over the door and the need to support the cabinet weight became apparent.

ETI sold pole kits, 2 bases and pole, but I thought, at the time, that the pole was a bit in the way and interfered with using the counter extension. So I fabricated one that was angled. Times change. Now I have a conventional one and sometimes use it as a grab handle.

Seeing the old style faucet and white stove, what a blast from the past.

I have a 2013 15A that I took delivery of in May of that year. It has a stripper pole and I grab it all the time if I have a hitch in my gitalong.

That's interesting, putting a pole in that location, even though the overhead cabinet appears to be continuous, not cantilevered by the door like the other models.

Good that it also has a second use.

My 2012 19' doesn't have a pole. Should I be concerned?

I am one who never even considered adding anything to the pole, and like some use it as a grab bar for entry and exit some times. While there are some good ideas here I think to me it would seem a bit cluttered right at the doorway and sink. I did build in a bunch of good storage elsewhere and that might be affecting my thinking. And those here that know me can attest that my thinking is definitely affected by something.

Some Gen1 19s started to develop cracks in the gelcoat over the door area so the poles were added to support the weight of the overhead cabinet.

The cause could have been poor and inadequate layup of the f.g. or overloading of the cabinets, or both. If yours has gone all this time without problems then you probably don't need to add a pole.

I agree, it's almost in the safety device category when it's used as a grab bar and added devices could be a hazard in that case.

We were just in Scotland and tried some of the something. M. even had a glass. She said that it was foul stuff and couldn't understand how anyone could stand the stuff. Finished the glass though.

I'll work on her acceptance of the good stuff next time I see her. Glad to hear she at least finished it.

Thanks for the advice.

I can understand. You folks paid for it, so she probably felt like, 'waste not, want not.'

Well she could have seen it used by offering it to me.

My 2011 15A had one. I miss it in the 17b.
