Dinette Delete?

We are wondering if, when we order our new 5.0 TA, it would be possible to delete the entire rear dinette so we could install our own recliners and a table between them. Has anyone done this or even inquired if it was a possible deletion? I have emailed the factory, but was wondering what the other site users thought...

No you cannot. There's battery(ies), water heater, possible EMS, fuse panel and the electrical under the benches. Where would those go?

Trust me, there's plenty of us that would love a recliner or two in our trailer. My compromise was a U-shape dinette, and no table mounted. I now have a lounge.

Yep, everything has a place in a small trailer, and the places to put things are limited. If you want to put your own furniture in a trailer, you will need a bigger trailer.

Like Donna we did a u shaped dinette in the rear of our 17. Did not mount the table and we like it that way.

Unfortunately, it seems like you either get a Beast of a tow vehicle for a huge trailer or a Class A if if you want that amount of customization, or settle for light weight, well made and good enough given all of the above. I am right there with ya.

Another consideration is weight distribution within the trailer.

Also the benches and over head cabinets are part of the skeleton of the trailer and are needed to support the shell.

So it seems that the consensus is a resounding "no", so you will have to work within the boundaries of what Escape is willing to do. Many new owners have customized the tables, fabrics, and even cushions used in the rear dinette to make them more comfortable.

I have often visualized a 21 footer with the bed and bathroom of the 19, the water heater under an above floor box/table in the front, and recliners on each side of the table. But, you are right the shell structure depends on the interior framing.

I've done more than visualize, I've sketched it out to scale. Only mine would be a 19 stretched to 21. I like the 19 floor plan better. It works for us.

Structural integrity can be dealt with. I found that the limiting factor seemed to be the location of the door and relocating that would be the deal killer.

Basically I'd keep the 19 plan intact until the rear of the kitchen counter/fridge bulkhead. I'd use the extra length for the kitchen counter and an expanded closet etc. That would be my perfect 19.

Yes! That’s what I meant, Ron. The floor plan of the 19 with the length of the 21! Keep the current storage under the queen bed, and the only thing fore of the door would be the water heater and two comfy chairs. No Dinette. You can engineer the structure! I’m in!
