I ordered the hinges today. It does not require removing the old hinges.

But back to the OP, is the problem that when the door is open at 90* it gets blown shut?

The newer 120 degree gas struts are great too. I haven't had an issue with too much wind for it to deal with. If winds got high enough to be an issue, I probably wouldn't want all the associated dust blowing in the trailer anyway.

I've had the friction hinges installed for about a week now on my cargo trailer door, and it makes a huge difference for me. Although the door can still blow one way or another in wind, it no longer moves violently, nor does it move from every little breath of breeze the way it used to. I'm really liking this.

Since my old hinges were worn and letting the door droop, I used a jack to raise the door before I attached screws to it. That seems to have eliminated the gap at the top which was letting in rainwater.
