Dri dek
I saw a picture of a bathroom floor where someone had put down dri dek. I have searched and searched but I can't find it. Does anyone know where to find that thread? I bought some for my bathroom floor and wanted to look at that picture again before I put mine down.

Use the bottom search box. I came up with 17 results. Didn't read them though.

It's a tough one to search for because some called it Dri-Dek, others Dri Deck, Dri-Deck, and every other thing you can image.
This is the only one that had a picture of Dri-Dek that I could fine: http://www.escapeforum.org/forums/f8....html#post2118

I bought it from West Marine, they have a catalog operation as well as stores. On my second Escape I skipped the install. Reasons: without it the floor was not slippery, it hurt my bare feet and I never felt it had any advantages, plus it was one more thing to clean around.

We bought from Marine West . We have had it since we purchased trailer . We like it because when you use bath and go in with your shoes the dirt goes down and you aren't standing in dirt when you take shower , which we use a lot . Very easy to cut to fit and clean ,lift it out once in awhile wipe shower bottom . We don't find it awful to stand on with bare feet . Just our opinion . Pat

I found this and bought some for my Escape. What I got has a smooth surface and no bumps to irritate. I like it and it was easy to cut and fit. I got the "comfort tile".

Might want to consider what Sandra uses, we have the dri-dek and it's not the most comfortable thing. Not a big deal as we're only standing on it for a few minutes at a time, but if I were to be buying it now, I'd opt for the softer material.
I really bought it to protect the floor from scratches. We carry our water jugs on the floor of the bath when in transit, on the old trailer the tub ended up scored from them.
If it were just for showering purposes only I'd skip it all together, it's just another item we have to remove to clean and dry the bathroom. Of course Deb might have another opinion.

I'm cheap. I use an old towel. It's warm for those midnight walks and soft on the feet. I can pick it up and shake it outside. Launder the towel when I get home. While the plastic mats allow dirt and grit to fall through, you then need to sweep and clean it up. I don't need to do that... the towel I is red. I think I'll look for one that's a dirt color

Do not understand all this dirt there is to clean up under the dri dek , for some . There is very little . It just takes a swipe for us once in awhile . If you use your shower no fun in the middle of the night getting your feet or socks wet not matter how well you dry your shower . We must have leather feet also because don't find it a problem standing on the tiles . No way do we want another piece of laundry to deal with using a towel . To be fair we have carpet in our trailer , maybe why not much dirt being brought into shower . Hate getting out of bed stepping on cold or maybe some dirt on floor . Pat

We are going to try these out: RUNNEN Floor decking, outdoor - IKEA, until I get the motivation/time to copy Chris's teak bath mat. Scott

I also copied an idea that Tammy had: I took a piece of an interlocking play mat (originally 24"x 24" and cut it to fit. I place that on top of the DuraGrid; It keeps dirt off the shower floor. But I also put a rug on top of that and then lift the mat and rug out and place it outside the bath door (with a towel or bath mat on top of that) when showering. With the rug on top of the fitted play mat, the rug is easily removed to shake out any dirt, or stuff tracked in (by kids. ), and stuff does not reach the shower floor.

I have always had a wooden bath floor in my Escapes, easy to keep clean and nice on the feet.

Some of us are more talented than others.
I'm in the "others".

The IKEA site says:
Wood contains tannic acid which, after a time, can leak out and discolor the sub-floor. Never lay wooden decking on a surface where it would matter if this happened.
Only recommended for outdoor use.
Has anyone had a problem with discoloring of showers floor when using this product?

Eek!, thanks for the heads up Ralph. I had no idea they were not safe for indoor use. Guess it's back to bamboo or teak. Scott
