Elfa shelving installation

Forum,

I am considering adding Elfa shelving to our E19 wardrobe closet. Out E19 does not have a drawer installed below the closet nor is there additional structure added in the side walls. Hence, my questions for those that have installed such shelving::

- I have noted on one post by jumboscott where shims were added to raise the Elfa shelving to the height of the closet door. https://www.escapeforum.org/forums/f...tml#post312180. Seems like a solution, but a loss of the space below the bottom Elfa drawer. Other installation ideas?

- I have not pulled the furnace, but I suspect the bottom shelf of the closet is not structurally designed for significant weight. Have folks added additional structure to support the load of the shelving?

- For side-to-side support, I have noted that folks have attached the shelving to the side of the cabinet to stabilize the unit in transit. Is there known structure at a specific height to support the shelving unit?

thanks in advance

I have not selected a model yet. I was considering a setup similar to the one in my first post below.

Not sure if this idea helps but we use the bottom of the closet for our dirty laundry…it has to go somewhere.

I built two frames to support the load of the shelving. Building frames eliminated the problems related to lining up 4 separate vertical members. The challenge was to locate the approximate center of the 'studs'. (See diagram) I predrilled holes using a KREG 32mm Shelf Pin Jig.

Nice job Richard. Did the "studs" run vertically or horizontally?

Vertical. My stud finder was useless.

I wonder if the closet space in your 19 is the same dimension as mine? Can you find out what the height x depth x by width is? I could built the frames while working on other things in the shop. That would be better than you getting ripped off for what Escape is charging for a shelf. What is it? $50?

No, the closets are all different sizes based on model.

The ETI website does not provide that measurement spec, so it will have to wait until May pickup to obtain.
