Emergency exit a/c

Or sub-title, cheap man's a/c

Since I already had this small 5,000 BTU unit I thought that I'd mock up a shelf for it in the emergency escape window. I was pleasantly surprised to find the opening for the handle lent itself to putting a tang on the shelf, with a pin, that holds the shelf firmly against the trailer. That saved making some other brackets.

Before I knew it the a/c was on the shelf running. Looks like it's doable so I'll do the finishing stuff and if it's stinking hot at Osoyoss I'll be smiling. No, it's not intended to be used overnight, just to cool down the interior before going to bed.

That's right, it's basically a top hinged window. I'm a little further along with it and it's really worked out OK. Considering I already had the a/c it was worth doing.

Oh, I see. So that large space above the ac just isn't finished being blocked out like the spaces left and right.

It wasn't then, it is now. It's all sealed up. So tomorrow should be pretty hot so I'll let the trailer heat up, note the temperature and see how long it takes to bring the temperature down a defined amount.

Then I'll make it all look pretty because I don't want something ugly on the exterior of my nice Escape.
