entrance door window shade?

I am thinking of removing the plastic film from the entrance door window, is there a shade kit that fits these windows?

Funny you mention a towel bar. That is part of our solution. We mounted one of the Camco towel bars on the screen door, mainly to be able to hand a towel to dry, but it also works as a good curtain since I removed the plastic film in order to be able to see out. We also have a piece of Reflectix cut to fit inside the frame of the window in the entrance door as another way to get privacy without the film.

Lippert was pretty fast at returning my email inquiries regarding friction hinges, usually the next day. If you send them a picture of your door sticker so they can verify the model number, they should be able to let you know if they have a shade that works for your door. If you find something I think we all would love to hear about it!

Here is their customer service email: customerservice@lci1.com

The problem with the Lippert shade is............. It is in the door, so to open, or close the shade, you have to open the door, step outside, close the screen door, operate the shade, close the screen back to the outside door, step inside, and pull the door/screen closed.

My Winnebago motor home had a pull down shade mounted on the INSIDE of the screen door.

This is the exact type of shade it had. Note, the company servers are down now, so the pics won't display, I assume they will get that working soon.

Thats a good point about having to open the door. I don't know why I didn't think about that. might not be ideal.

I have a Classic 19. With the badly fitting airplane door. Being winter. I put up a whole curtain. I think Ron's window treatment blown up. Didn't have time to sew it, just pinned. Works pretty good as a storm door, & not letting the heat out. Just push through it.

Staples work well when you cannot or do not want to sew.

I dint buy one as the problem with the screed door stopped me. you can't really open and close it unless you have door open, and screen closed and outside.

Question

Just curious, has anyone else considered mounting a simple pull-down roller shade with a bottom-hooks on the inside of their screen door?

I'm imagining the full-width of the screen with the lower 'anti-flapping' hooks at the crossbar just below the window, only shading the upper half of the screen.

Seems to me that would an effective scheme to provide flexible privacy with a no-film window and a degree of sun-blocking even when leaving the outer-door open for ventilation?

How fancy does the shade need to be? I used some foil-faced bubble foam cut-to-fit. When not it use, roll it up and store it away.

I like the towel bar idea…high enough that you can look down and out at who is at the door but all they can see is your eyeballs.

Simple solution for our upcoming 60 day romp across country: two small Command hooks glued to scrap plastic and slipped behind the door rim. They hold a black-out curtain bought on Amazon. (The curtain was originally attached right to the door with Command hooks but turned to be a pain to use)
