Escape cabinet size for speakers?

I'm considering mounting speakers that are 6 1/2 inch diameter in our soon-to-be-built 21 overhead cabinets, both at the rear over the table and in the front over the bed. Questions are:

1. Are the faces of the cabinets large enough for these to fit?

2. Does Escape provide any kind of physical barrier in the cabinet to protect the speakers?

Thanks for any help!

Charlie-

In the rear cabinet over the dinette-- yes, there is plenty of room. In the front cabinet over the bed-- yes, but just barely: There is seven inches on either side of the cabinet door to the corner trim. In both cabinets there are no interior partitions / baffles.

Thanks Mike, I'll go with 5 1/4 speakers in the front instead. Not like I need them booming at me in the sack.........

We ended up building a partition/protector for the speakers because items stowed in the back over-dinette cabinet were knocking the speaker wire connectors loose....and it is quite difficult to get in there and work in that confined space! Smoke and mirrors...mirrors to see and smoke coming out of my ears!!

I'm going to have the same issues. Thinking of making speaker protection devices (widget wraps) out of ABS plastic; user could easily drill holes and use the same nuts/bolts for mounting the speaker. Would leave openings top and bottom for speakers to pump air.

The ETI installed speakers have some sort of plastic cover on the back - inside the cabinet. Sort of like some of these: Speaker Baffles at Sonic Electronix

Those baffles would have been nice but probably hard to get in these to attached them. We ended up making these homespun (and fairly crude) barriers for each side. Scrap plywood, duct-tape and 2 angle braces. Not pretty but they do the job and don't eliminate much of the space.

Most of those don't appear to have venting; speakers pump air so may need to drill some holes at the least.
