ETI's wall-mount TV arm

I don't recall any recent threads on the extendable wall-mount TV arm that ETI currently offers as an option. We got the TV arm option in our new 2017 21', had them reinforce the wall for it (and for some closet options), and I finally got around to mounting the arm and TV yesterday. i used tapered-head 1/4" x 20 threads/inch x 2" long bolts with fender washers and neoprene locking nuts inside the microwave cabinet. We like it a lot! I thought some might want to see a few photos of how the mount looks and the view from the dinette and the bed (pardon our mess, things are still piled around while we we're deciding where to store things). The TV is a 19" that runs off 12V or 120V. It's hooked up to 12V from down on the drawer stack for these photos, so the cords get a little messy until I get a chance to clean that up. For travel, the TV and swivel arm assembly unsnap and lift off the mounting plate, and it lays down flat inside the ceiling cabinet right behind the TV. Perfect fit all the way around.

For those pondering if they should have this or that wall reinforced, if the bracket is mounted on an unreinforced wall about an 1" to the left of where this one was mounted it will go through solid framing and the wall doesn't require reinforcing.

I'd hate to see anyone waste money reinforcing the wall if this is the type of mount that they want to use.

Ron ours keep pulling out of wall . It is the one Escape sells and installed . That wall was supposed to be reenforced but wasn't . Could see from removing refrigerator , no reenforcement. I had to redo the whole installation with what else solid oak . Doesn't matter I fixed it and it has been fine now for about 2 years . Pat

You're right, with the fridge removed it would be really obvious if the wall wasn't reinforced. It's unfortunate that you didn't get what you paid for.

When I had my fridge out I marked some dimensions for a photo so I could look at it later if I wanted to hang something heavy on that wall. You can see the framing at the edge of the wall is more than adequate for most loads.

Your framing looks good Ron . Really don't know why TV mount keep pulling out . Never travel with TV hanging , it rides on the bed , amongst the pillows . It is a 22. Forgot to pay attention when refrigerator was pulled . It was hot over 100 at the time and just wanted to focus on the refrigerator and get that solved . What a job . Anyway not a problem anymore . Maybe I can see something in the past refrigerator pictures . No maybe not it is behind in the microwave cabinet space . Pat

Thanks. We haven't traveled with it yet, but that's the plan. The little plate that is bolted to the wall is all that will stay there while traveling. The TV and swivel arm mechanism will be removed as one unit, folded down to be compact and tucked away safely.

There was discussion about leaving it in place a couple of weeks ago. It looks like roughly half of the people take it down for travel (us included) and half leave the tv in place maybe with a strap to secure it.

Ron, is that a 2x4 in your picture? I thought the biggest piece was 1x4 used?

To each, their own. But in our case, when it takes only seconds to remove the TV and safely stow it in a padded cabinet, I see no reason to leave it in place and subject the TV to potentially damaging jarring or the wall to needless stress. But as Donna D always reminds us, YMMV.

No, it's not a 2 x 4. A bit of an illusion.

TV Arm

Hi Ron, Could you please provide the model and brand of your tv arm? It looks interesting and very versatile. Thanks, Bruce

Bought it on Ebay and it cost US $16.18

Does the job for us and it's the perfect size for that location.

The ones that have multiple bases and quick release mounts look nice also but for ours, in a fixed location this one does the job. If we do want to take it off for rough roads then 2 small setscrews have to be removed. Not a biggie, takes seconds.
