Finally got it done. x 3

For a long time my modifications list has had three items.
- Water reservoir to smooth out shower pulses and stop pump from coming on with every flush
- 12 volt and USB plug just under the sink edge so that at night I can charge my phone and use it as a clock and/or plug in a small fan to blow across us all night when it's hot.
- Power transfer switch to automatically switch all a/c plugs to the inverter when boondocking

took along time to get all the supplies and tools and clear away everything and keep myself hydrated.

I just got the shurflo accumulator and will be installing that shortly. Have you had a chance to see the difference with it installed?

The pump did not cut on after 6 flushes, so I didn't bother continuing.
Haven't tried out the shower, hoping to do that in about three weeks.

But now your pump will have to operate 6 times longer to refill the tank, correct?

I think so, maybe more.
it will be the same amount of water but the pump should run less times, at night when it is most annoying, but longer each time it does have to run.

I'm hoping it smooth's out the pulsating when taking a shower. I feel like this is the one I have to explain better; when I'm taking a shower and I turn the wand to the off position, it leaks just enough that the pump turns on about every three seconds or so for maybe half a second. I bought a new wand and it turned off the water and didn't leak or have this problem for two showers and then it was back to the same as the original wand. I hope to negate that off and on cycling of the water pump.

Be sure to get the proper fittings.
I went back and forth to Home Depot multiple times before giving up and taking the drive to a RV place and getting the right fittings.
I probably have over thirty dollars of stuff to take back to Home Depot, adapters, etc and the proper fittings are $2.99 each.
And have a wet vac on hand because if it leaks you have about a liter of water under pressure that comes out of the accumulator when you take the hose off to see what is wrong.
In the end with 2 fittings, 2 hose clamps and about 18 inches of food grade 1/2 hose, it went together with no leaks in about five minutes. But that was day 3 of the journey.

Thanks, John. I will lay everything out and per ur advice get the shurflo fittings and hose ahead of time. Your nice install won't be quite as easy on my 19 with the tight access under the bed.

To help mount the tank I used brackets I made out of aluminum bar stock from Home Depot. one on either side of the tank.
Easy to bend, easy to cut, easy to drill.
Mounted the tank as close as I could to the pump.
So I just lifted up the hose on the output of the pump and screwed it into the tank.
There was already a piece of wood spanning the flip up seat area, so the bracket used that.

Hope this stuff helps.

I just installed the Shurflow accumulator on my 21'. I set the precharge pressure at 30 psi. I think they suggest to set at turn on pressure of the pump. Anyone know what it should be?

Congratulations!

I have it on my to-do list to add an accumulator this fall and was hoping to be able to fit in a 2 gallon, which measures 11 x 11 x 9.5 high. This evening I took a picture of the area to the right of the hot water tank under the bed in our 19. It didn't look too hopeful. The black line coming out of the floor is the propane and you can see the city water and the fresh water fill lines going through the space and into the floor (see insulation).

Has anyone added an accumulator to one of the new 19's?

One possibility would be to go to this tidy little combined unit from Whale. It has a .53 gallon (2 liter) accumulator, which is nearly 3x the Shurflo unit. I'll need to check to see if the dimensions would work on the wall where the pump is currently located.

This Whale pump/accumulator combo went on sale for quite a bit less than the cost of the individual units - $188. The two components are mounted on a mounting plate that is just about perfectly sized for the space where the existing water pump is currently located under the bed in the 19. So, we bought it and will work on installation soon.

This should eliminate the pump hammering.

I installed the Surflo on my 19 and it worked great, eliminating the pulsing surges when using a low flow. I plan to install one on my 5.0TA. I sure don't need to change out a good pump.

I have used a few Whale products before and found them to be quite well made.

We wanted a larger accumulator so when I looked at the cost of buying just that, the delta was small enough that I spent the extra, figuring that I can keep the Surflo as a backup.
