Installing MTI Propane Detector

Since the Atwood LP Gas Detector is no longer in production, I decided to replace my failing one with a MTI.

I like the recessed models better than the surface mount ones - here is the model I decided on.

I had the same model in my Casita for years with no issues of false alarming like the Atwood tends to do.

Below are pics of the install.
  1. Marked the paneling and cut the opening to match the MTI retaining the cutout paneling for later use.
  2. Cut a paint stirrer to fit and glued it behind the paneling for backup.
  3. Trimmed the cutout piece of panel to fit the hole and glued it into place.
  4. MTI installed.

Final pic is of the MTI from the dinette area. The patch is barely noticable but if I get to looking at it too much over time, I can cover the patch with Escape touchup tape and make it disappear.
