JT Strongarm

Hi guys,

As we all do, we too like our 5.0 very, very much. The only thing that is bugging us is that it still is woblly when in place, we used bigger blocks this time but still, as soon as you need to strecht those legs (jacks) the dancing starts.....

So as one of you suggested maybe use the JT striongarms. I looked at several video's and that apparatus seems to do the job quite well....

So i went and tried to find someone who wants to ship to good old Holland. I did found one! So far so good.

Just before i hit the order button my eye catched something..

Choose this one if the distance between your jacks is more than 58" . Wellll..... that is wishfull thinking.

I measured the distance and it is about 111cm which is about 43/44 inches.

So i looked if there was a smaller kit to be found (JT) but i can't find it anywhere, i dropped a note to Lippert Components (the manufacturer) but in my experience American companies are not that quick or keen to answer questions send to them from the old world.

So again, i'm turning to you guys. Does anyone know if there are JT strongarm kits for the Escape 5.0 type 5th wheelers, say in the 40' range?

Your help will be appriciated very much (as Always)....

Sev, it looks like they do make a smaller kit for distances of less than 58". It's part number 191024. Hard to find details about the minimum distance required though.

You might also try emailing Lippert Components parts directly: parts@lci1.com

There are several email addresses listed, so try that one if you haven't already.

Wondering if a couple simple jack stands like this one is a practical alternative.

What about using a kingpin tripod. I have seen a few of these, but am not really sure how well they work. BAL has a few different ones. This is just one of them.

BAL - Innovative Products for the RV Industry

BAL also sells a stabilizing bar.

Yep great idea, no jack stands available in my garage. But that easy and cheap to come by, does anyone have any experience with this on the 5.0 Classic??

I'm thinking putting this next to the electric jacks will help a bit but this will still be a single pole, but he, i'll give it a shot, maybe a bottle jack?

He Jim,

Thanks for your suggestion, the tripod looks good but we did change the complete setup of the kingpin, in fact, i do not have a kingpin anumore but a ball. The hight of that ball is way lower than the original kingpin, due to our coupler in the pickup bed.

So it looks like a lot of hassle to get the tripod converted to our needs.

I also check out the BAL stabilizer lockarm but i'm missing the support from front to back, so for now the JT looks the best bet.

There is a Lippert page for product, but like most of their product pages it doesn't provide much useful detail - they are really more oriented to OEM sales.
