I had to make some adjustments also. I covered the wall corners with carpet as they climb the walls (literally) Also wrapped the table legs to make scratching posts. Still, I couldn’t imagine traveling with my new best friends!

We've done a lot of the same stuff for our kitties - they love the sisal scratching post on the table pedestal. We opted for a litter box in the bathroom - has it's downside, but not a good available spot under our dinette with the inverter on the dinette base wall.

Richardr, what is that stuff you're using for litter?

Looking at all these photos was rather difficult. I miss having a cat around the house and would enjoy having another. However, I hate the inevitable barf on the carpet and have vowed that any future cats will be outdoor pets.

We have wood pellets from the adoption agency. I like the way sand isn't tracked around the trailer so I think we will keep using them.

Wow! Minnie Moo hit the jack pot! Congrats on your new addition and love all the kitty mods! I bet Minnie Moo is adorable in that hammock! We tried using those pellets instead of kitty litter once and our kitties said, 'no way - where not touching that stuff!' So nice that Minnie Moo likes it, the lack of kitty litter must be nice. On the other hand, DavidMurphy's methods looks pretty good, too! So nice you all get to travel with your kitties. Thanks for sharing! -Bea

So far she hasn't used the hammock. Right now she is small enough to sit on the back of the dinette cushions and look out the window. When she gets bigger, we are hoping she will discover the hammock.

I like the way you hung the hammock, but I can't blame that kitten. I'm not ready to embrace my hang-ups either.

We have the opposite problem....one of our cats loves his hammock at home, but it's too big to bring along in the trailer!

David,
Is that really a hammock? It almost looks like a huge slingshot! I’ve heard of flying squirrels, the proverbial flying pigs, and the Flying Tigers (technically cats), but flying tabbies?

Yup - it's just a big people hammock, not a kitty hammock....or at least it was until he took it over

It's interesting how cats take over a place they like. Before our Escape we had a Casita with captains chairs. Our old cat, Ebony, decided he liked to lay in Vicky's captain chair. When he was not sleeping, as soon as Vicky got up, he would claim her chair. Vicky was so nice, she sat on the bed, so Ebony could stay in her chair.

Cat Screen Room

Here is our latest cat-mod. The screen room and tunnel were purchased from Amazon. I cut 1/2 inch plywood to fit inside the hatch that goes under the dinette seat. This is Minnie Moo's bedroom with her cat-box and carrier/bed. The cat-door, also from Amazon, is the smallest one I could find and fortunately fit nicely in the plywood.

We spent about an hour coaxing her up and down the tunnel. It moves quite a bit when she walks in it, but now she goes through it without a thought.

We haven't seen any sign of critters, but we are locking the outer door at night and when we leave the trailer. In addition to animals, we are concerned she will find a way out of the screened room/tunnel and be long gone when we notice.
