The problem may arise if you ever plan on using the dinette for sleeping. What you're proposing would make a very narrow bed. At least with the standard rear dinette base and filler board/cushion, there's a twin size bed. Plus by expanding the rear dinette, you are shortening the side portions of the dinette by the same amount for foot space. Hummmm

Did you make that brace out of aluminum with braised joints? It looks like it. That would be a lot lighter that steel and should be plenty strong. I like the angle iron too. Is it steel or aluminum?

My only reservation on your brace is how much space it takes up. Having said that, you'll never need to reinforce it. You definitely did this "h--l for stout!"

Like you, I'll start with the 3/4 inch plywood backing and maybe angle aluminum along the top. But I'll probably go with a couple of shelf brackets like these. I think they"ll be strong enough. If not, I can replace them with something like you made.

As much as I like the Lagun's folding tables, I'll stick with the ETI's standard table for now.

I can see that were going to have a LOT of Laguns in use by this time next year!

Rich

PS I bought an extra table mount plate when I purchased my Lagun. Now I'm trying to figure out a good use for it.

Anyone have ideas on this?
.

Rich, The bracket is made out of 3/16 plate steel 5 in wide and the angle iron is steel also. I spray painted both pieces silver because I had a can on hand. I looked at aluminum angle but it was way too flexible. You want stout!!

I agree here. What we did was add a small piece of plywood and two stout drawer slides under the table. Now our table slides side to side and front to back. Table still doubles as a bed and we have room all ways. Cheap and easy.

Mark,

Your support is beautiful and will hold up forever!

From my perspective, I only have to make the base mounting stronger than the Lagun arm assembly. The arms are aluminum and have a lot of leverage on them. I think that's the weakest link. The shelf brackets are not nearly as strong as your support and they're ugly, but I think they'll be strong enough. And they're much lighter.

Rich

Looks fantastic Mark! I like the fit and finish. One thing to keep in mind gang is if you have the inverter it will have to be moved or mounted vertically. On my 2015 it is mounted on the floor right where this bracket is located.... I did mount mine vertically already and I happy to post pictures of this if anyone would like!

Here is a 17 x 24" teak table top that I bought on the same site as the lagun pedestal I believe.

I did not have to move my inverter or surge protector or anything electrical. I relocated some wire ties. I also had to remove and rebuild the wooden support for the rear bench seat as the bracket ended up in that space.

I ordered mine from the UK. It came in TWO days! I thought it was crazy to FedEx it from the UK, but that's what they did. They charged me a bit more than $30 for shipping. I got FedEx tracking updates about four times over those two days. FedEx required that someone be at the house to sign for it.

I installed the Lagun bracket today and have not yet decided on the size of table top. I reinforced the back wall of the u shaped dinette with 3/4 in. plywood, used a 4' length of angle iron across the top of the same wall, and made a brace to reinforce the back wall to the floor behind it. With the Lagun bracket installed on the wall, it seems very solid! I will either make a table top or look at the Lagun table tops. The Lagun folding table might be an option but quite expensive! Here are a few pics.
Wow, Very nice job Mark looks very strong and well built, like the added angle.

Like the flexibility of rotating and swinging the table. This may be the travel position.

Mine came in 2 days as well, although the top piece was damaged but they quickly replaced that part! So I am working on a mount and would love to see other people's mounts for this Lagun leg. Can you share what you did?

While the back seat seems narrow, the side seats are actually excessively wide, and not good for sitting back while using the table. Just fine for relaxing though.

Just another fella's viewpoint.
Thought the same about 2 people sitting on back bench however did it twice last month for the first time. Worked great with one couple being two 6'3 Hungry Jack types for bfast. Other pair were friends for dinner and we all were comfortable.

Sometimes we each use a filler board cushion behind to help with the depth. Keep forgetting to try the pool noodle.

Our teenage kiddos sit at the table across the back bench of the U dinette and it works great, use it that way all the time. Our boy is over 6' so should be fine for adults as well.

Cliff,

That looks awesome! I love the completely open floor and the flexibility (literally). Can't wait to put mine into my 5.0 TA when it's ready in September.

It's time for you to update your details on your profile.

Enjoy!

Rich

Thanks, I found if it's in the corner position I can take weight off it by lowering onto the corner cushions placed on the bench. Lock it in position, ready to travel. In theory anyway.
Will update now....

Your theory makes sense to me. Even if it doesn't take 200% of the stress off the Lagun, it's got to help some.
