If you're looking at getting a 2017 they come with different refrigerators now that the door is bigger, at least that's what I've heard, so it'd be a non issue, hopefully.

In my "vast" experience of 12 days on the road with a 19 (first and only camper) our 4.3 has worked well and kept between 34 and 40 degrees. This is with three or four bars and traveling long days using DC for power (truck alternator is able to keep up).
When I was prepping on Wednesday for a three-day trip to pick up my son from college, I tried pre-cooling the fridge on AC and it didn't seem to work at all for the first 1-2 hours. So I did what I normally do with everything, cntrl-alt-del. Pulled the AC power and turned off the battery switch, waited a minute and turned everything back on. Fridge started cooling within 30 minutes on AC. I don't know if what I did worked or was just coincidence.
Any opinions?

I can live with that. Good excuse to buy and keep a yeti as backup though :-) just in case.

Because of the larger door in the 2017, my understanding is they are using a totally different fridge, so more than likely a moot point on the new ones. Ours has been fine so far in our 19 and has stayed in the recommended ranges even while traveling.

If you're considering a 2017 Escape, the fridge issue is moot. They aren't using the 8 series going forward. That's because the new entry door is wide enough to accommodate a Dometic Americana fridge - which has better performance in hot weather than the SN rated (sub normal) 8 series.

Share! You can't just put out a teaser about a better way to do something and then not explain! ;-)

Great tip Mesa. Thanks. That makes perfect sense to me. Yep considering a 2017 21 footer. Working on. A build sheet now so you guys will have to put up with me for a while :-)
