We like to sleep head end by the counter , so the flip up counter extension was a problem because we also have a foam topper . This has now been remedied by narrowing the flip up counter extension by 2 inches . I think one would not easily notice that it is narrower . Easy up and down now !
In the 15A one really does have a good piece of counter space between the stove and sink , however we did not take the stove cover because it would block that useful space at the back of the stove . As noted by CPAHarley in another thread it is nice to have a cutting/prep board on the stove ..... so Wolf made a very fancy cutting board ( don't think I will ever be able to bring myself to cut on it though ) . Adds a great space .

The stove cover also doubles as a tray and we also have matching sink cover as well a paper towel dispenser/tea towel bar .

Wolf did a great job on those things, Gabby. What a handy guy to have around.
I see purple heart, walnut, maple and a few other wood species in there....very nice.

Thanks for saying so , Wolf spent a good deal of time on them . There are seven different natural woods , plus the oak sides of the stove cover/tray .

Thanks .... also yellow wood ,cherry , padouk and one of the red - starts with b and escapes me at the moment . Yup ... he really has made many lovely things over the years . Ummmm Gabi ......

The tray idea is not only beautiful but extremely functional. My son made a cutting board very similar with all those woods and I've never seen my daughter-in-law cut on it either...much too beautiful.

Have you tried either in the "tow mode" to determine if they stay put?

Wolf says thanks ... Karen, I know just how your daughter--in-law feels . Yup , the sink cover was in use at the rally , it is routered out to fit the sink - doesn't move . The tray/ stove cover is an exact fit over the stove , maybe an 8th of an inch play so that it really can't move at all . With it being all solid wood it has enough weight to not allow it to jump ( which it really couldn't anyway as the stove is a couple of inches high ) .

Great job! I am going to try to revive a few of my wood working skills and make a stove cover. I remember using padouk in a chess board that I made in high school. Gotta love those exotic woods!

We also enjoyed that , Silver Sage especially . The other group - with the Eriksons and Jones went to another Winery that was set up like a western saloon , apparently very fun . Maybe next year .

Word of warning for anyone thinking of working with some of these woods, though. Some exotics are quite nasty on the sinuses, so make sure you have good ventilation.

I built some wall sconces out of padauk several years ago. I found it fairly irritating, but one of my friends came over for dinner a few days later and had a bad reaction, even without going into my work shop. Fair enough, a bit of sensitivity there. The amazing bit was that she had the same reaction several months later, just after I gave the shop a thorough cleaning, including wiping dust down from places that hadn't been dusted since before I did the padauk project..

Yeah, lots of caustic irritating woods out there. Recently, on a flooring install on a project my company was doing, we used massaranduba (Brazilian Redwood). Holy crap was that stuff irritating, and I don't have sensitive skin. My guys had to wear goggles, gloves and masks. I had a small scrape on my arm and did it ever sting when I got dust on it. When sanding for finishing, we ventilated well and wore full disposable coveralls and respirators. The floor sure did look great though.

Pretty good, but at 3/4" think, it might be heavy. After a few months now, we are still loving our cork floor.

That word of warning is important and worthwhile advice , as Wolf is a BMT survivor he does use a respirator and coverall for most parts of his woodworking .
That cork floor Jim Bennett installed in his19 is beautifully installed and is very attractive , if our floor weren't so new ........
