HyperVent & Dryvent

I surly don’t want anybody thinking that what I have done is better than using HyperVent or Drymesh. It was just another way of mattress ventilation with a product that is available at most hardware stores or as an end of roll via Market Place as I purchased mine.

As with all modifications it is good to do your own research as to what will work best for you...and your pocketbook. There are many posts on this forum of what people think of each product and they are very search worthy if you want to ventilate your mattress. If this idea is new to you then here are a few products to check out.

If you are not familiar with HyperVent here is the description.

“HyperVent is a unique material that consists of a white spun polymer woven into a large open configuration that is bonded to a breathable white fabric layer. The light mesh of polymer does not compress, allowing an open layer of air to form. It is 3/4” thick, allowing plenty of dry air to circulate.”

If you are not familiar with Drymesh here is a description.

“DryMesh is a three dimensional woven polyester mesh, designed to reduce moisture under mattresses and cushions. Made from 100% non-absorbent polyester, the unique 3D mesh allows air to circulate, eliminating condensation and mildew build up. Both lightweight and flexible DryMesh can be easily cut to size and placed neatly under mattress or cushion.“

One other option for mattress side airflow - for those getting a new trailer (or updated mattress) - is Escape will allow you to order a smaller mattress for a $50 charge if you so choose. I had them take an extra 2" off off the mattress all around. It makes it easier to get the mattress in and out of the bed area (on a 19' trailer), makes tucking the comforter in easy, and gives ample air space. The downside is a slightly reduced sleeping area.

Just open one of the door under the bed in cold temperature works also. But the cold wall perspire a bit but moving the matelas from the wall helps.

Did sleep in very cold temperature 10 night in 6 month of ownership.

Looking for Hypervent on Amazon, I found Den-Dry. https://www.amazon.com/dp/B07BH9YCR1...xpY2s9dHJ1ZQ== Appears to be pretty new.

Window Baskets for Eggscape

The short story...I wanted something small and not intrusive to hold my cellphone, glasses etc while in bed.

The details...My wife has the many pockets on the wall to put her stuff (as in post 238-239) but for me against the rear of the trailer, there was not much storage to offer. Yes I did make a small shelf between the two valances (as in post 127-128) but that requires a little fumbling to find stuff up there and some careful extraction so that everything doesn’t fall down. I just needed a bit of storage space to utilize during the night or if I was lounging during the day.

I found these great little black metal baskets at Dollarama for two dollars each. They have welded corners and are really well built. So well built that they even have 4 little discs welded to the bottom for the rubber feet to stick to...so you will have put up with them. They come in silver or black and are bulk packaged together in a cardboard box for shipping. The ones on display were all silver except for one black. I asked the sale person if she had any more black and she looked up to a bunch of cardboard boxes on the top shelf and reach in and plucked a few more out...some silver, some black. Measurements are 9 inches long x 3 deep x 2 high.

Before mounting them I did a little research on the Escape build video and pulled these two screen shots of the plywood frame that they install around each window. Plenty of depth to sink a few screws to attach the baskets.

After doing some basket measuring, figuring that holes an inch in from each side would be good...I transferred where I wanted the holes on the window frame. My window frames have a rib that goes around the edge. I used this as an aid in drilling the two pilot holes for the screws. I then held the basket in position and using an awl, poked holes enlarging an area of the mesh to accept the screws. You could also use a small Philips screwdriver if you don’t have an awl.

Once you have done one basket it all becomes quite easy. Drill, drill...poke, poke...screw, screw. Repeat as required.

If you don’t have the U shape dinette, attaching a few under the window over the table could be quite handy. I also attach one under the kitchen window to hold our cellphones while we are busy in the kitchen.

I have similar, but mine hook on the lip of the window frame (doesn't work with all). They are Rubbermaid and available in some groceries and home and stationary stores.

That works as well...
I had also purchased a 14 inch long plastic bin for testing, but the walls were slanted to much to have it mounted reasonably level.
I am glad I looked a little more and found the mesh ones as they are more to my liking.

Love this idea! What are the dimensions of the mesh organizers? 3" x 9" ?
3" x 12" ?

Thanks!

Interesting...typically the window needs the frame like I have to hold the window in the trailer. If you post a picture of your window showing the underside frame, I might be able to help.

You inspired me, Eggscape, so I went out and cut off bottom (pocket number four), glued in two flat masonite stiffiners (painted lite green), unscrewed two back screws, then attached that pocket to the window frame.

Perfect...just because they made them together doesn’t mean they have to stay together.

I did a similar thing with some ATV bags that were to long for where I wanted to place them. A simple cut in the middle and then I had two bags. I have had few people ask where I got those great little bags as they have never seen them before.

Here is a little teaser of a project that I am working on right now and these objects are a key element...and it has nothing to do with locking the wheels.

I went back 4 pages but I don't see that type of fabric bin. Where did you buy them? They look perfect for another type of mod. that I have in mind.

MyronL came up with cutting off one of the fabric bins on his own. I am sure he will get back to you with his source.

Looks like it might be this one in beige.
