New 7" queen mattress

Hey all you new 19' Escape owners! How do you like the new 7" queen mattress? Reading through all the old posts it seems that a lot of Escapees have added after-market memory foam on top of the older mattresses. We are picking up our new unit in Oct and heading immediately on our maiden voyage for a few weeks, so would like to be prepared as much as possible in advance. Is this new thicker mattress comfortable on its own?

Soon to be new 19' Escapees!

Re: New 7" queen mattress

very much so, I'm not planning on making it any more comfortable or I'll not want to get up.

We find we sleep great on the original one, though many added a topper. I have not tried the new one, but have heard lots of good about it.

Re: New 7" queen mattress

Is it the same mattress that's in the 5.0?

By the way.....for those that don't know....the new refer (at least in the 5.0) is a 6.7 cu. ft. and a 3 way.

The website says 4.3' (3 way) in the 19 and 5.0

Re: New 7" queen mattress

There is a bigger one available as well 6.2 i thought but could be 6.7 i am not sure. this is the one we are getting, it does mean in the19ft that you loose the storage above the fridge, not a big deal for us as we are not getting a microwave.

Yes it does Jim. I don't believe the web site has been changed yet. When Reace and Tammy were on vacation another gentleman from the factory (don't remember his name but a very nice guy!) told me on the phone that they were in the middle of changing the refer to a 4.3 or a larger unit but that he didn't know if any firm decision had been made yet.

On July 30th I got an email back from Tammy in response to some questions I had. I'm posting the email so that others that had similar questions can see the replys:

Hello JC,

Please find attached a copy of your build sheet which contains some of the changes you requested.

Our standard hitch is a Reese Pro Series 15K Fifth Wheel Hitch plus rail kit. We also use the Primus IQ Electronic Brake Controller.

Many of our customers choose Sailrite for the upholstery fabric. This company seems to offer a high quality fabric that is reasonable priced and machine washable. – They also ship direct to Canada. Our standard fabric is a 200 rub.

I did not receive your adjusted build sheet just the one I sent to you. Can you please resend it.

The new 6.7 cuft fridge is a 3 way fridge and offers a separate freezer compartment inside the upper portion of the fridge.

No we do not offer a porcelin toilet.

The gaucho bunk is a bunk bed system that we offer in the 17’ Escape, Plan B only. Please note this option is not available in the Escape 5.0

The water filter is attached to the water hose and secures to the post when you are hooked up to an exterior source of water.

There is one tank wand included in the Starter Kit. Additional Tank Wands are $12/each.

The outdoor mat comes with a black and brown pattern.

If you order the AC unit it will replace the vent over the rear dinette. The Maxx Fan which is installed just outside the bathroom door can be used during all weather conditions and it will not drip water onto the bed. The large vent/ emergency exit over the bed will need to be closed during poor weather conditions.

Please feel free to forward any other questions you may have.

I'm thinking that's a typo since a delicate fabric is 3,000 to 9,000 double rub. It's probably supposed to be at least a 20,000 rub (or double rub).

The "rub" is in reference to fabric wearability code. I had asked about the quality and spec of the standard material used in the upholestry, valances, etc.

See this link..... http://furniture.about.com/od/furnit...earability.htm

Re: New 7" queen mattress

Back to the original question--we like the new mattress very well. Quite comfortable. No topper necessary. --Liz

Re: New 7" queen mattress

Thanks jim, Jim and Liz! Sounds like a good mattress. The main reason we opted for the 19 instead of the 17 was the queen bed - just want to be comfy, not cramped, and certainly not stiff in the morning from a too hard mattress. We are embracing our coming senior years!
