New cabinet in my 5.0TA
Well I finally finished adding another cabinet to my 2015 TA. Those with the same trailer can probably relate, the cabinet between the door and the bed has a access hatch from the outside and the space goes all the way up to the inside drawer, most of which I found unusable.
So after removing the counter top and some reframing a new cabinet was built, the bottom of which rests just above the top of the outside hatch.

Nice work...
This seems like an idea that is conceptually like adding the optional cabinet door on the PS bench on the 19. It makes that space very accessible on the 19 without having to step up into the trailer to access the items stored there.

Another handyman for Reace's "maybe available list".
Well done Doug! Looks good! You will love that convenient little storage space, so easy accessible!

We're going to be ordering a 5.0TA and are actually thinking about doing the same thing.
May I ask where you were able to get a door to match the ETI cabinetry? Or did you make it yourself?

ETI will actually do this for you on an order. I had them lower the exterior hatch and add an interior door to the cabinet so there is added interior storage and less height on the exterior storage. They have done this at least a few of times for customers.
ETI will also sell you a door if wish do modify it later, although they use red oak with a clear finish so you can easily duplicate it yourself also.

Which set of router bits did you use to create that door profile ? Very nice job , the glue joints look perfect !

Thanks for the information.
I also like the idea of lowering the hatch door. ETI has already told us that it was the one hatch they could move (for a $100 fee). We would like to put a longer cabinet next to the door with a couple of shelves for shoes etc ...
We were thinking of doing a retrofit ourselves but if ETI will do it for us that would be the perfect scenario.
We're pretty good "amateur" carpenters but not more than that!
