New exterior grab handle
This is for anyone with an "older" trailer that may want to replace the cheap, black, hard plastic one that is on their trailer. (It appears Escape is now using a nicer version on newer models) Anyhow, with this unit I was able to reuse one hole and it is large enough to cover the other hole. Very high quality Attwood marine handle (different company from Atwood that makes RV stuff) and really makes a big difference in looks, feel and sturdiness in use. Also added a white one on the inside bulkhead with one screw through the door bulkhead and into the side of the counter top and the other screw through the bulkhead and into the side of the cabinet. At this level it is great for young kids or just an extra place to grab and very secure.
Vinyl Grab Handles : Attwood Marine
Can get it through Amazon.

I had to add an extra handle to my 2012 interior but with the introduction of the stripper pole in later years egress is much easier using the pole.

What I have found interesting, is that with all the ins and outs I've been doing, hauling stuff inside and working in there, that I've not once used the stripper pole OR the outside handle to get in and out. I thought I would. Maybe after a long hike while out camping that situation might change.

and perhaps as you age gracefully with your Escape, your vision and agility may diminish somewhat....

How much reinforcement does the stripper pole have? I'm concerned about me swinging on it to get in or out and the thing going out with me. Has ETI commented on using it as a grab bar?

Heavens, if it was designed to take the weight of dancing, I am sure a grab or two would not hurt.
It is anchored very good top and bottom, and would work fine as a grab bar.

I'm sure if you want to try some out at the rally in Osoyoos the owners would let you...and if you want some music ........

The pole appears to use standard marine rail bases. The tube fits into a socket. The bases are screwed downwards and upwards. Forces on the pole can't move the tube out of the bases, they're very strong for lateral loads and the screws are in shear. It would likely take a substantial impact to tear them out "sideways".
