New wall covering needed around the dinette!!!
Hi: All... On our NFLD trip I hit a washout along the (ahem) highway. Hit so hard it cracked the battery and emptied out one cell on the floor. Had to replace the battery/box but now I need to replace the ruined paneling and trim. Does anyone know where I can buy the oak faced panels and trim?

Alf,
Somewhere in the 2015 Forum posts was the info about the cabinet shop that ETI used for all of their woodwork. I had gotten the type of wood used from that info. I'd try asking ETI first (esp. 'cause it'll be a request from the 5.0 poster boy ).
If I find the info, I'll post.

Hi Alf, so sorry that has happened for you guys, we hope the rest of your trip was wonderful. Would you not be able to find a match to the oak used at Home Depot or Lowe's. We find here in Calgary that oak of almost any dimensions is fairly readily available.

The paneling is Western Oak by Vipco. You might try to get it locally Alf. I'm sorry you need to do that though

Sorry about your woes, Alf. Carl told me a couple days ago and I guessed you might have some woes like this.
Vipco.ca that Donna mentioned is here in Calgary, but I bet they supply folks nearer you that you could buy from. The trim can be replaced with solid oak but does need to be finished.

Hi: Donna D...& Jim Bennett... My son and I had to detoxify and re install the battery and boxes. In the same pot hole The sink cover took a flip into the plastic sink cracking it, all the magnets came off the range hood and a 10L. bottle of water spilled as well. The acid made the colours of the floor mats run... but I think the new Endurance tires saved multiple blow outs and my TV antenna is working better!!! LoL
Thanks for the info... I'll look around locally and call ETI on Monday. I'm also thinking it might be a good time to do a Legun table leg conversion. I could strengthen the partitions at the same time. The floor cones need replacing anyhoo!!!

Alf, a trip to Calgary will get you all the materials you need, and a hand putting it together.

Hi: Jim Bennett... Thanks. At this point we're not home yet and I feel like staying put for some time to come. Looks like I need some new tools and brush up on my skill set to return "Escape Hatch II" to her former glory.
We found NFLD to be one big pothole plagued system of patched up pavement. They still have only two seasons... Winter and Construction. More of the former and less of the latter, but the scenery is spectacular. I forgot to mention that it took 3 hrs. to get off the ship in Argentia NFLD. Seems the trailer borrowed all the charge from the truck while I was asleep!!! Won't make that mistake again. Alf

I was told by Dave at ETI that they have their paneling made for them and one can only get it at the ETI. When we went up to the escape rally, we went to ETI and purchased 3 sheets and some of their tape used for oops lol

Last summer I cycled from Montreal to St. Johns NL, and took that ferry from North Sydney to Argentia. That is a great ferry!. More like a mini cruise ship.
Riding the bikes up the short but steep hill after the ferry made up for the good nights sleep in the cabin.

I don't know how I took the quote from Oldtimer in my last post. Doesn't really align with what I was saying. I was trying to relate to the issue Escape Artist had getting off the ferry in Argentia. Anyway I know how to ride a bicycle, now to learn how to run these frickin computers...Need my grand kids to spend some time with me.

Hi: Sean Murry... I really need my wife to take my pic's off my camera and put them on my comp. Here's a shot of leaving the ship in Argentia NFLD. We were to be second in the lineup to leave. How embarassing is that? Our leaving wasn't as bad as the ships cook. He had a heart attack and left by ambulance. Alf

I am surprised that they did not have a cart with a battery to give you a jump. You are probably not the first person to be in that situation.

Hi: Ron in BC... They did, and tried several times to wake up the "Male sheep", but being a diesel it took a CAA Freightliner flatbed to whirl him over. Alf
