Hey,

It is not worth it unless you get it for free. The theory is nitrogen is stable no mater what temp so you do not suffer pressure loss due to cold or hot temps. It does not prevent loss from checking tire pressure, cornering etc and when you refill you put in regular air so ..... My two cents for what it is worth. Found this on a quick google http://www.tirerack.com/tires/tirete...jsp?techid=191

Probably, if you are planning on entering a F1 or Indycar race with it!

I think this might be a good use for old stick built trailers:

I use a specially selected mix of 78% nitrogen and 21% oxygen.

All gases change pressure with temperature, but water changing between liquid and vapour makes it much worse; improvement comes from using dry air, not air with less oxygen. Pure dry nitrogen would be great, but in this respect pure dry oxygen would be just as good.

I'm happy to get "tire nitrogen" (relatively dry 98% nitrogen 2% oxygen) instead of the usual grade of the shop's compressed air when a tire store mounts a tire for me (for any vehicle), but I won't pay extra for it and I top up later with ordinary air.

The Tire Rack article is pretty good. As it suggests, infrequently used trailers might be a better target for "nitrogen" inflation than most vehicles, but I still wouldn't go out of my way for it.

I use it but we use it at work and it is easy for me to just keep an extra tank here at the house. With a small tank it actually easier to add to the tires then cranking up the air compressor. I do find I don't have much pressure loss and only have to bump up the tires maybe twice a year a pound or so. I also have a TIre Pressure monitor system on the trailer which reads out pressure and temperature in the truck and with Nitrogen my pressure does not change as much as with compressed air. I have been using it for about 5 years but don't know if I would if I did not have availability to it and was not able to keep it at the house.

It sounds like you're using dry nitrogen from high pressure cylinders. This has been popular with race teams, even for running air tools, to avoid the need to run an air compressor. It is nitrogen, but even more importantly for the tires it is very dry. For most people, this isn't practical, but if you have it...

When I checked years ago, compressed dry nitrogen was actually cheaper than compressed dry air.
