Old Body Style SS Door Hinges
Just received a note from Dave at WesternHardware.com, he's down to 41 stainless steel door hinges if you want to replace the corrosion prone pot metal originals, he has no plans on ordering more.

Add RH to the part number for right hand, as in
WHCSSFH-RH

Ordered!
He was mentioning your name, Bob. "How does Bob get the word out so fast....?"
He told me the phone keeps on ringing at his place.
Bob, you sure know how to keep someone busy :-)
Thank you for the heads up!

We picked up a pair quite a while ago. Great quality. I don't intend to install them however until the factory hinges are in rough shape.

Me too. The chrome on the hinges on Ten Forward is starting to 'bloom,' so I'm thinking installation isn't too far off.

Is this hinge problem something that owners of new trailers should be concerned about?

No, remember the door changed along with the body style. The classics used two chrome plated hinges for the slight air-craft style door.

The dimensions listed perplex me but the overall shape seems identical. Are all our hinges on the older units the same? Are we sure these will fit? Same screw holes?

Some folks have reported that the holes don't line up exactly, while others have found them exact. That's probably due to slight variances in the stock hinges. But these "are" a direct replacement.

On mine, a couple of the screw holes were off just a smidgen, like maybe a 16th" so the screws went in at a little bit of an angle. I had to file down the striker a bit IF I recall correctly. Just make sure the latch and locks work okay afterwards. I changed them one at a time with the door closed, then adjusted the striker when it bound a little.

When I found those hinges I was so happy for something as important as the door and not looking like junk on a newer trailer . Ours (stainless)still look like the day I installed them , shiney and new . If you haven't yet I would run and get yours . As for I think it depends on your trailer , a hole or two needing to be changed , that isn't really a problem . When I removed the originals all our holes were larger and one or two really not lined up where they should be . Just put a spacer in the latch side to hold door in place , drill new holes , seal up the old holes and install your new hinges . Can't stress this enough cut yourself a rubber gasket, I used a old thin bike tube to make a gasket . Make sure you precut the holes in the gasket . I found the old hinge cutting into the fiberglass without the gasket . Also pay attention to your screws , the door and body screws are not the same . One set is shorter . Pat
