Then with one of these, FGHT to 1/2" MPT it gets you there. https://www.amazon.com/YELUN-Fittings-Connectors-Adapter-connector/dp/B092HN397S/ref=sr_1_10?keywords=female%2Bgarden%2Bhose%2Bto%2 B1%2F2"fpt&qid=1659995888&sr=8-10&th=1
They make them with 1/2" FPT as well but they are often a swivel connector it seems. We have the Hamilton Bowes spigot and we find the little bit of dripping to be tolerable. We always turn the water off at the knobs and remove the spout when we are done using it.

I have purchased the RecPro 12" flexible spout with the brass quick-connect fitting (male plug). It doesn't seem to leak and it attached securely to the outdoor shower coupler.

Unfortunately, the actual dimensions of the coupler are not specified anywhere.
I just checked the dimensions of the brass quick-connect (male) plug supplied by RecPro with my micrometer. The dimensions of the end of the plug are different from the 1/4 inch "M" (industrial-type) plug that is typically used in many air compressor couplers. The RecPro plug is not typical. In checking the Northern Tool and Hardware website, I found a "high flow" V-type plug made by Milton that appears to be very similar to the plug supplied by RecPro. The V-type plug is referred to as European standard in some forums. I will need to check the item in the store to verify its dimensions. The tip length of the RecPro plug is the same length as that of the 1/4" M plug = 0.195 inches. The outer diameter of the RecPro plug tip is 0.395 inches. The OD of the M plug tip is 0.318 inches.
The inner diameter of the RecPro plug at the tip is 0.295 inches. The M plug tip ID is 0.185 inches, so it's much smaller and will not insert into the outdoor shower female coupler. I tried it. The flange on the RecPro plug is narrower than the M type plug and is not quite symmetrical. More to follow tomorrow, once I check the stock at the local Northern Tool. Here is the link for the Milton plug, which I hope to use for my smaller diameter Loc Line flexible hose:

Reducers are available to connect to 1/2 inch fittings - 1/2 inch female to 1/4 inch male, for example.
