Plague projects
Having cancelled an Escape get-away trip south a few weeks ago, I've been occupying myself with projects, many on my rig. Inspired by Jimrules and Reddog, I installed LED strip lighting in the wardrobe cabinet, dinette uppers and above the dinette. The cabinet lights are actuated when opened with magnetic proximity switches.
Obviously, none of this effort is necessary, and the cabinet lights are a PITA to get power to. But..."busy hands are happy hands", so it's said. I'm not big on TV and media, and do enjoy tinkering.
Also added reflectix sheets to the front window rock guard. I had some lying about, so why not? Awaiting a more robust battery disconnect switch to be delivered, and may be running out of things to do on the rig. I guess wheel bearing inspection may come up, given the length of time and severity of this pandemic and my need to putz.
bon voyage

Pandemic
Pandemic or plague
I like the improvements you’ve made.
Since the governor closed our favorite spot
I’m sure hoping my tires don’t rot.

What's your favorite spot?
I hope it's not the "Dew Drop Inn" bar & grill.

Figured it was a good time to refinish my solo (fishing) canoe, it's getting pretty beat up. Got it all sanded down only to find I don't have any gloss varnish. Now I have to wait for that to come in.

In my younger days when I took vacations I never missed a chance to take a picture of any motel named Mountain View. I also looked for Dew Drop Inns, Duck Inns and an occasional
Thistle Dew cafe. Now where did I put those slides? Have a great day today whatever you do and wherever you are.

The day before our governor issued his "stay at home" order I went to Lowe's and bought a 500-foot roll of 14-gauge wire. Now I'm using it to string antennas in the back yard. That should keep me busy for a while.

This is for sure a good time to kill time working on the trailer, doing fun stuff whether needed or not. Always something, right? Will be looking at the cabinet interior lighting thing for sure.
At the moment --digging through my deeply buried slide files is the project at hand. A lifetime of photo infection needs an emergency room cure. I’ve still got slides kept in Airquipt projector magazines but no longer have the projector. I know I am never going to get out that old Carousel. Got about twenty bulky magazine boxes to deal with. It is time to throw out now irrelevant images, and many duplicates, make it easier for relatives to deal with when the time comes.
OK Canadians, so where are these two pictures taken? Fair warning, the year was 1974.

Like many people, I'm sewing masks using my substantial supply of fabric. It's keeping me busy.

What battery switch did you order? I’ve been looking for one to replace mine that failed.

Okay ... I'll bite.
What kind of 'antenna' would you need 500 feet of 14 gauge wire for. Either I'm losing it, or certainly missing something. Whatever you're 'knitting' will certainly be interesting.
Call me curious.

Nope. Memory fails me. I need some help identifying and locating the name of this tiny lobster harvesting harbor community. Watched them bringing them in and sorting from offshore traps. It is somewhere ...maybe 50 miles(?) we drove up the western coast from Port aux Basques. Cannot find anything resembling the place on Google maps. Fischells? Bear Cove? Codroy? Nothing matches. Much too developed to have just disappeared. I remember a cove protected by a rock breakwater. Wish I had more pix.

I'm certain Mike will elaborate, but in the meantime: Some favorite ham frequencies that go down to 160 meters wavelength will use a minimum of 133 feet of wire. Longer can be better in some case.

Interesting...never thought of that, though I am familiar with the capabilities of ham radio, the closest I've ever used was single sideband (which I cannot define) in northern Canada.

Well, I didn't intend to use the entire 500-foot roll on one antenna. My first goal is to erect a good longwire antenna for commercial AM / shortwave reception. But Alan's mention of the 160m ham band sounds like a good second project. While in California I listened to people on 160 meters but I couldn't tune my trailer's puny vertical antenna to talk to them.

Stringing 100's of feet of wire up at 80 feet isn't puny!
I want pictures when you are finished.
