I think that the 8" wider might be referring to the central inside area. The middle bath in the 19' made that area behind the "kitchen" seem quite "tight" - at least that was how my mildly claustrophobic wife described it. When I told her that I was considering trading in our EggCamper and getting the new 21' Escape, she didn't want anything to do with it until I showed her how they had moved the bath and made the camper the same width as the EggCamper.

I have to add that I thought the 19' had an excellent layout, especially if you camp with more than just the two of you; and I had no problem with any feelings of "tightness."

Being 6'7" the 21's bed config caught my eye immediately: saw that big-time room for de feet to hang over and out. But, when I realized the 21's bed width was less than the 19's that alone for me kaboshed the 21. Happy to say my extended frame, shoulders and all, fits just fine, wife and dog included, on the 19's queen.

I wonder if they will come up with a bigger bed on the 21' to get all of those folks who definitely want that. Perhaps a wider bed could be at the back with cabinet and drawers, leaving the bathroom where it is. That would no doubt result in many more 19' owners jumping up as well as many of those now ordering a 19', mostly because of the queen, going for the 21' instead. Does anyone have a napkin?

I have been thinking the same too. Swap the dinette and bed. Though not for everyone, but I would prefer the bed away from the door. Not sure how a dinette would be worked in though. Oh well, the 19 does work great for us, and maybe the 5.0T would be the answer down the road.

Having owned both now I feel I can offer a more informed opinion. Everyone talks about being outside and spending little time inside and that is the reason some do not have ovens nor a/c nor this or that. Likewise, the bed to me, is not that important. It is comfortable and beats sleeping on the ground. In addition, having a california king at home, the double bed is cozy.
I also like being able to sit on the bed and put my shoes on, something you can not do in the 19. Getting in and out of the 21 bed is easier. The bed storage area access is easier than the 19. The whole bed can be lifted up if need be. All the major components are more accessible in the 21 vs 19, your pump, water heater, furnace, right there. There is triple the counter space, bigger bath, and more than a third more in storage, all in a model that is just 18" longer and 4" wider, this tells me that the 21 makes better use of the interior space than the 19, why?
Because the bed is smaller, but the living space is bigger. Simple but effective. So the Escape 19 is more of a motel room with a large bed whereas the Escape 21 is more of a suite.

Not only the short guys...I'm nearly 6'5" and we have no problem with a 54" bed.

Got the bed made, the queen sized Travasak fits fine, I installed the hyper mesh under the mattress and a heated mattress pad.

I moved one of the extra flip up tables from the dinette to the nightstand side, decided that 2 were not needed there and one was needed here.

Thanks for posting more pictures, Jim. It really helps to see things laid out as I'm only 90 days out from turning in my build sheet.

Blackjack is looking great!
