Recessed stove top on 17B

A'building our 17B for delivery August then camp BC and Alberta. We really liked the counter topping Basalt Slate 3690-58 with black trim and then got enamored of getting a black Suburban recessed stove top from O'Connor with the dark glass flush cover. Ordered back in April and delivered timely to Escape. They said they could install and all was signed up on the Bill of Sale

Got called by Sales just this week that the recessed stove top won't fit in the 17B because would interfere with the furnace installed in the vicinity. O'Connor has a 30 day returns limit. Sales said I had to eat it, possibly sell it on this forum. I begged some and Reace kindly will take it, and we'll just go with the standard black stove with the metal cover. Hey, this recessed installation with a dark counter top will Look Great in your rig, so if any of you are building bigger models and like the idea, call Sales and the unit's there for you.

Yay, Reace!

I was wanting a similar recessed stove top for my 17. Furnace is in the way but there is one solution that I may do.... Raise my counter top an inch or so might be enough. Perhaps if ETI hasn't installed yours yet .... that may work for you.

Wow, Tom. Did ERI say they would raise the counter an inch?

Tom, I just checked with Sales who also asked Reace. Although they've already started installing my 17's counter top, they say as a matter of principle that they won't put in a recessed cook top in a 17. So, you'd have to upgrade to a bigger model to get one. Those cook tops with the flush cover are nice.

I'd take that cook top for our fiver if this thing is just "sitting around" at ETI.
