Refrigerator internal fan - is it effective?

I have seen three types of internal refrigerator fans. I was wondering if any of these either cool down the refrigerator faster or assist in maintaining a more uniform or cooler temperature. I have a 6cf refrigerator (separate freezer).

(1) Fan sits on a shelf and has a small fan on top powered by batteries to move internal air. Example:

(2) A 12VDC "muffin" fan mounted to a shelf to move internal air. Example:

(3) Fan(s) mounted on the refrigerator fins to force air across the rear fins. Example:

I use one similar to the third one in your links. Helps distribute the "cool" from the fins...

I've had similar to your (1) for years. One set of D cell batteries lasts a season. IF the refrigerator starts struggling, I place a frozen water bottle right next to the fan and it helps disperse the cold. It also helps during the initial cool down.
