Removal of the kitchen cabinet support pole in the 19
Anyone had Escape develop an alternative to the cabinet support pole in the 19? It comes down right in the food prep area and would drive me crazy. It would seem the cabinets could easily be hung from the ceiling with reinforcement.

Older Gen1's didn't have one. Then some started seeing cracking in gel coat on the roof - right where that stripper pole is. Doesn't bother us at all- and is a grab bar while exiting.

Let me put it this way. There was a time when Escapes didn't have them. There were a few issues and they started to install them on every Escape.
I always hated the look and my 19 didn't have one. Then a couple of problems happened to other folks and they became standard. Because I travel on a lot of rough roads I constructed one myself. To minimize the physical interference I angled it towards the wall. After it was in place for awhile I stopped seeing it, it's part of the trailer.
My 21 came with the factory support. I don't see it either. It does do a job. You might be able to replace it with another design but after awhile of using the trailer that'd probably be a non-issue.
BTW, they're affectionately called stripper poles.

When Jim Norman gets back in the online saddle ask him; however believe he may have coined that term for the support pole.

Harrumph. Probably will just stick with the 17B but a few extra inches in the bed, bathroom and kitchen would be nice.

We have the pole in our 5.0 TA it’s an absolute non issue for me and just asked the wife she agrees. I definitely think it lends substantial support to the cabinet.

Maybe you could devise a method to easily remove the pole when the trailer is stationary and reinstall it when your traveling or during the heavy snow season.
For us it is not an issue but that doesn’t solve your problem

That wouldn't be hard to design, just brackets that allow for a sideways insertion of the pole and two push pins.
But my guess is that if someone had a removable support pole they'd use it a few times and at some point the pole would just stay in the fixed position.

I added one to my old 19 after reading some complaints about shell cracking. Think it's greatest value is as a grab bar for us with stability issues when exiting or entering.

I suspect there is more prep area space in the 5.0 than the 19.

I agree. I don't have stability issues but I've noticed how I automatically reach for it, especially if I'm stepping down with a full glass in one hand.

I think it was affectionately named the “stripper pole” because it reminded someone of the handle on a scraper that is used after applying Strip-Ease on paint or varnish when refinishing a piece of furniture! And it was termed a pole because it was longer than the handle found on a typical paint scraping tool.

They were used to hold up the roof at the Coach House

Actually, the stripper pole supplied by Escape Industries is only half of the kit; you need to supply the other part to make it fully functional.

It’s right next to the sink and we have a counter extension that is constantly used also. So even though you’re working to either side of the pole it’s just not a big deal. Really.

Oh shoot... I've been found out!
BTW, the term stripper pole was first started over on the Oliver forum. I just repeated it because it helps me with SEARCH (that's my story and I'm sticking with it).
