Removing Auto Rollup Function from Electric Awning

Has anyone had success at removing auto rollup function from the electric awing? If that could be done, then possibly some posts placed and staked out could make it durable enough for strong winds.

That will do it, or, once it is extended, shut off the switch.

Some have added posts to each end of the end cross bar to support a wall but this will not help if it rains.

I have always avoided bypassing safety features, auto rollup is one of them....

I wouldn't call the auto rollup a safety feature in the general use of the term. Perhaps for the 'safety' of the awning itself.

When we got our Escape we found the awning would roll up way too easy. Just walking into the trailer would cause it to roll up. I found it really annoying. Finally I had a great idea....read the manual. There is a sensitivity adjustment you can make. Ours was originally set to the most sensitive. I dialed it back to around mid range, and it works like a charm. Does not roll up prematurely.

I would rather have it roll up versus getting destroyed in the wind.
