Securing batteries in box
Came home to find locks cut on storage box and both batteries gone. Most likely stolen for the $20 core deposit. Thankfully no wires cut. Unfortunately batteries sold out and supply chain issues. Was able to find seconds or B (blemished) for a fraction of regular retail. Looking for a better way to secure the batteries so I don’t have to keep pulling them out each time I return from a trip?

I'd consider more secure storage for the trailer itself. Sounds like the thieves in your area are pretty brazen.

We park our trailer in the drive way. If we aren’t going to be using it I put the cover on it.
This helps hide things. My batteries are in front storage box so not real easy to get too.
However I employ several counter theft measures. On the cheap.
Your local Lowe’s or Home Depot stores have a array of battery operated alarms motion sensors and lights.
I place a motion alarm in my storage box which will trigger if the trailer is bumped it has a remote too. Just turn it off when using trailer.
I Also placed solar security lights near by and from Harbor Freight I got a 10.00 drive way alarm that chimes when anything enters the drive way.
Along with some combination bike heavy cables for other stuff while camping.
Thieves like quite and dark take those things away and it really helps.

Unfortunately the more effort you put into stopping the theft, the more damage they may do. Find a more secure place to store your trailer. I drive 30 minutes outside of the city to a small town with a secure gated storage yard with lots of cameras.
On another note, never store your trailer at home unless it is out of sight. My neighbors bought a trailer and the 3 times they went camping they were broken into. They lost interest with all the problems they had with their trailer, hmmm Jayco.

I’ve looked at storage but $300 a month buys a lot of batteries

We have two schoolgirls about 12 years old in our neighborhood along with a bunch of other kids. They come down to the house to sell me fundraiser stuff for school and to play with our dog Jake. He loves the attention. I talk to them. Within 10 minutes I know who is going on vacation, who has been on vacation, who put their car in the ditch, and which teenage daughter is now pregnant, you name it. And for the stuff they know, it’s obvious that everyone’s coming and going is neighborhood knowledge. So I just can’t worry about all of that. I have good insurance, a decent lock system and a couple cameras. The neighbor above me walks his dog a lot and I talk to him often. He tells me when he’s going to be gone and I tell him when we’re going away. He usually asks me where I’d like a burglar shot and I say “Just wing him”. All in all everybody out here looks out for one another but 7 pout of 10 are not chatty. At least with me. Hmmmm. I think obvious cameras are a deterrent as well as a sign stating video surveillance. Just my opinion.
