I read a review in Amazon that the black sink (Houzer E-100 MIDNITE Quartztone Series Granite Dual Mount Bar/Prep Sink, Black) looks gray when mounted in a black counter. Our countertop is Basalt Slate 3690-58.
Has anyone put this black sink in their black counter? What did you think?

Evidently there are a couple of different drain routings since Fred's goes through the floor of the cabinet at the back (good) where Tom's & mine is routed to the front left corner, not so good since it takes up more useful cabinet space. Never the less, the hepvo modification is in the plans as a winter project.

Fred moved it. The original hole is in the same position as in Ten Forward. I was planning on moving the piping to the back too...

Of all the Hepvo valves I have installed so far in Escapes, none so far have had the same piping. Some have the trap above the shelf - some below.

My piping did come up through a hole in the same spot as Fred's. I just decided to run the drain in the front as that allowed fewer 90's for the run. It's fascinating to see how fast that thing drains!

Below is a pic of the hole before I patched it.

My drain (and the water lines) are further forward - about 2" from the door hinge:

On edit, I added a photo of the entire sink underside. The trap is in the lower cabinet, but the cross to the elbow eats up a lot of storage space.

Jon, so far you win for having the strangest piping run!

Explain to me how so many trailers built within months of each other can have so drastically different drain piping.

Hi Richard,

We have the Mineral Jet 3450-RD countertop and installed the Houzer E-100 sink. I was also concerned about the comments on Amazon, but the sink looks black to us, not gray.

Thanks Fred. We are ordering the sink, faucet and other items from your list on the first post. Thanks for taking the time to research and post it. It sure saved me a lot of time.

Fred,
Did you need an adapter between the trailer hot and cold water PEX connectors used for the old faucet and the new faucet's hot and cold water fittings? I haven't taken the old fittings off, but it appears the PEX connectors are female as are the new faucet fittings.

Hi Richard!
No, on our trailer, I just disconnected from the old faucet and reconnected to the new one. I will take a photo when I get home!

Sink and faucet installed

I just finished installing the new black sink and faucet that Fred recommended. It looks great!

The unexpected issue I ran into was that my trailer water supply fittings are plastic female compression fittings having 5/8 inch pipe threads and the new faucet has female 3/8 inch compression fittings. Fortunately I was able to buy male 3/8 inch compression to male 5/8 inch pipe fitting adapters at Home Depot.

The surprising thing is both Fred and I have the 2017 new generation 21s and Fred's was build only 6 months before mine. It just shows that Escape will make minor changes any time.

Wow! I’m glad it worked out. I am so sorry I never snapped the photo. I hate that I forget things by the time I get to my camping site!

I really like the look of your sink. I am wondering if the factory supplied sink in the 21’ is the same as in the 19’? We have a 2017 19’ and although we would lose another inch or so of counter space I would seriously like to install one.

Dan,
The sinks should be the same. Our friend installed the Houzer sink in her 2018 Escape 19 and she loves it. We saw her installation and were inspired to get one in our 2017 21’.

Here is the Houzer sink in my Escape 19. I supplied the sink to Escape and they installed it. Escape also added the Dickinson stove.
