Skid Plates
I have a Ford F-150 FX4 off road package and it has steel skid plates that protect the gas tank and some other vital areas from damage.
Has anyone installed an aftermarket skid plate system on their Escape to protect the tanks from road debris damage?

We find that the spray foam insulation does a great job of protecting the tanks. We have gotten pieces of metal, tire carcasses flipped up and the foam protects. Along with keeping the interior temperature more stable

The plan is done and the mod is slated for next year.

But, if it is the same as my 2018 F150 Off Road (3.5 EcoBoost) you will find a piece of fiber board "protecting" the rear of the engine, including an aluminum radiator.
I have to admit that if I had the spray foam I might not have punched holes & cracked my gray tank from road debris. I covered much of the bottom of the trailer with 2" foam board in a project that started to just cover the cross over water lines, but got carried away. Unfortunately, I didn't get carried away enough to cover the tanks. Another project!

I'm not thinking spray foam because I want easy access to the schtuff.
The spray foam might end up being the simplest way but I'm thinking something like removable 14 Ga Steel Plates that deflect road debris from the precious packages below.

No spray foam here, I’ll opt for access.
Maybe a Kevlar cover on the grey tank that's used for canoes?

Do you have any pictures?
The fiberboard is actually a sound leading piece and a pain when you change oil. Check out your inner fender wells. They are fiberboard as well. These things and the aluminum body helped the F150 shed a few pounds.

On my long list of things to do i probably wont get around to is medium gauge sheet metal over foam as a brush guard for the tanks and to insulate the undercarriage of our escape. Probably just 24 gauge galvanized to start and if it goes well get it made again heavier.
