You will be amazed at how easy the conversion to a bed is. Take your time with the fasteners- the heads on the screws that come with the pedestal fit & look good, so either try to emulate or maybe try to cut them down some. Consensus is that they will penetrate the floor of a stock Escape floor.

The 30% worked for me. Great deal and if I end up with black I won't look at it as a negative but a bonus since it normally costs more.

I purchased a set of slightly shorter screws of the same size that work great.
I had thought to insert threaded anchors in the floor, but there has been no loosing of the floor screws at all, and our table is almost always in the upright position. Maybe someday.

Thanks!
Thanks for all the responses. I have tightened the clamps. I also added a 5/8" spacer in the gap between the tabletop and the top of the pedestal bit as suggested in an earlier thread. There is a significant improvement in the table's stability.
FWIW for those who are planning to install the Springfield, I installed it with the screws that came out with the ETI supplied post base.

Is anyone else having problems pushing the table down into the 'sleep mode' state with the Springfield pedestal? I cannot get the table down by myself ... it takes my husband to come in and push down with all his might/weight. He says it's just stiff but I can't believe getting the pedestal down should be that hard.

I have found that if the table was pushed down unevenly, as in more weight on one side, it would seem to bind a little. If pushed down in the centre, it works pretty well.

After tightening the clamps I also find it goes down a bit harder, but not hard enough to stop a couple hundred pounds.

springfield Pedestal
For those who were asking. Just received my Springfield pedestal yesterday afternoon and it was the satin anodized (silver) finish.

Thanks, mine won't be here for a week or so. But it's going to my sister's just across the border so I guess I won't have to ask her to open the box and tell me the color.

We just brought ours back today after camping at Birch Bay State Park. We do not have the u shaped dinete. My husband is trying to keep the present sliders in so that we can still get in. Also cost about $200.

I recently purchased a Springfield from Overtons, but have not installed it yet.
They always have sales and discount coupons. Bought ours for $199

Ours was the silver version, I talked to customer service to verify. Sales didn't have a clue.

Mine arrived at my sisters' place in WA today. Wish I had the trailer to go with it. Another 7 weeks for that.
Yes, thanks for not only the source but the discount code. What a savings.

Just found out we have to pay thirty odd dollars for shipping, still a good deal. I wanted to go with the Lagun, but the better half likes the Springfield. Scott

Finally managed to get across the border and pick up my Springfield Pedestal.
Didn't have to pay duty or taxes so my total cost was $178. Great deal.
I'm impressed with it, quality looks good and the brushed anodized finish, which was a bit of a question mark, is what I would have ordered.
Gertie wasn't too sure what this new object was but she'll probably spend a lot of time sleeping near it.
OK, got the pedestal, I'm ready to go. Oh wait, they've still got to make the trailer.

Hello,
New owner-to-be here, having ordered an Escape 21. Lots of help by reading the Forum. Do have a question that I'd not considered before, i.e. Springfield Pedestal vs. stock table pedestal. Thoughts welcome. Note: the trailer will be used by two, my wife and me. Don't expect to ever use the U-Dinette in the bed configuration for overnight guest(s); though I'm told that it also makes a handy and comfortable "lounge" area. Do you often use it that way? Also, least expensive place to get the pedestal? Overton's currently does not have it available. Also, does it negatively affect accessibility to rear bench, e.g. converter and/or storage? If so, how do you cope. Also, do you get the standard Escape slider table installed? Lastly, is it really much more "firm/solid" a base than the stock table? Lots of questions. Need to let the good folks at Escape know soon, so please don't "table" these questions. Many thanks. Henk
