Springfield Pedestal Question

I have a question for the people who have installed the Springfield Pedestal.
After installing the pedestal right out of the box, have you tightened the clamps on the tubes? I found the wobbliness could be reduced by snugging up the thumbscrews on the clamps. I'm just not sure how tight I can make them without breaking something.

Anybody else done this?

yes, I tightened mine up too, but I don't know to tell you by how much.

I'd be able to answer your question when I find the best place to order one.

I've looked at many sources and seen a wild variation in price. And being in Canada doesn't help. Where did you source yours?

Given use of similar items I'd think a gentle snug would be enough to firm it up and you'd have to use quite a bit more force to break them.

Given that ours might never be used in the lower position and one of the reasons that I'll be getting one is to have a solid table, I'm guessing mine will be snugged up firmly.

Read the fine print.
The price of the table is $254.97. The extra 30% off does not apply to any item whose price ends in $0.97.
Plus shipping.
Still a good price. Just might order one.

I would call them to order to see what discounts are available. That is where we bought ours and it was a good price as I remember.

I bought a Springfield table pedestal a couple weeks ago from Overton's... price was 254.97, discount was $63.74, total including $10.54 sales tax was $201.75.

When I went to the Overton website, I was asked if I wanted a "new customer" discount... or something like that (I can't remember the exact wording). I believe I was given a code to use. It was a 25% discount.

To answer the original question, tighten the thumb screw to the point where the clamps seems difficult to close. Then back off one full turn on the thumb screw. The clamps should close with easy to moderate force and be firm, not overly tight.

(Test: if you can rotate the table top with the clamps closed, it is not quite tight enough.)

Oops didn’t read the fine print. I just put it in my cart and applied the code. It worked but I didn’t take it all the way to checkout because we already have one.

I keep the latches tightened as much as possible yet still work them. This included a fairly took tightening when new and a couple tweaks since. It gives the table a great deal of stableness, almost eliminating any wobble.

I just went to order one. Overton's doesn't have a photo and there are several finishes on the Springfield site.

I phoned Overton's and the customer service person made a real effort to find out what color it being sent out. He couldn't find out anything about the color, silver, black etc.

So what color is the unit from Overton's?

The silver is what most have as the black is an upgrade. At that price does it matter

I believe you are correct about the finish.
At the reduced price the finish didn't really matter. I would be pleased with either.

I just ordered one for our 21 for 196 including tax. Can anyone point me to the best install instructions available? It looks pretty easy, unscrew the current mounts and screw this in but I need to know screw lengths and will have to measure location so we can drop it to bed mode easily. Looking forward to a sturdier table and easier conversions for our son to sleep.

Is your ETI slide front-rear or side-side? If front-rear you might want to cheat it slightly towards the front of the trailer. While I like the screws that came with the pedestal I added a raised floor so there was no worry about puncturing through the floor and possibly the fresh water tank. You should be cautious however with your factory raised floor.

Stock slide in our 21 is side to side, probably possible to add a 4-way but that would be more work for not a lot of benefit. When I pull up the press base mounts I can measure the screw protrusion or just reuse them.
