Stock Table

Just finished painting the raw wood under the stock table to protect it and to better match the finished look of our formica. The raw wood was visible from quite a few angles when the table is installed.
I think this has been covered here in the past, but noticed that the locking screw was cutting a pretty good gouge in the soft table wood. Added a strip of harder wood for now to allow the table lock to screw down on it and not the table wood.
In process is painting all the raw wood with this color and I'll post as I complete the other pieces. (Cutting Board, Filler Board, Counter Extensions)
A simple $5 can of paint, a good brush, and a couple hours labor sure makes a difference in the finished look of the trailer.

Improving the cheap plywood used for the table was my first project once we returned home. My wife even caught splinters in her legs and hands on the four-week trip home. I first used wood filler to try to take out the worst voids in the cheap C-D plywood, then sanded, and finally painted. Like you, I added a hardwood (oak), strip for the lock-down screw.

Unless you did a lot of prep-work on the underside of your table, it looks like a higher quality of plywood than we found on ours. Maybe Escape decided that a couple of bucks spent in some spots was worth the cost.

24 Round Table

Installed the test 24" round cocktail table.
Table unstained wood at Lowes was approx $18 US
1 Pedestal mount $7 use existing pole and floor mount.
If we like the size ultimately we'll do a permanent table later.
2nd pic shows filler board in front/table in rear floor mount
3rd pic is filler board in back/table in front floor mount
4th pic is filler board now painted to match table/formica.

Cutting Board

Finished painting the raw wood on the cutting board and then sealed it with several coats of Poly since it comes in contact with wet surfaces. Looks much better now matching the Formica color and it's protected from absorbing water around the wet areas.

You were my inspiration on the round table for the U, Marry.
I'll be trying it out at Quartzsite this week, but so far it looks like it will be awesome.
Thanks again for leading the way.

Greg, when you're lounging around your dinette, who peels your grapes for you?

Morning Gregg ! Would you believe raining here again . Another mod is coming as soon as the weather improves . Like the look of the black , looks more finished then the bare wood . Your table opens up your dinette too. Have fun at your rally and maybe next year . Pat

The table in our 2010 has screw tips ever so slightly coming through the bottom of the lower wood piece. I believe they are holding on the inner rail of the slide mechanism. Just enough that it could give you a decent cut if you hit it wrong. Covered them up with multiple layers of foil tape for now but intend to eventually disassemble and cut down the screws. Hopefully QC has caught this by now.

Nice work Greg. You are making that dinette look really comfortable. Doesn't seem like it would be terribly difficult for someone to modify a standard dinette to achieve something similar.

Yeah good call. I'll just get under there with the Dremel and a small cutting disk. No need to remove the table and having the Springfield pedestal it's a bit harder to remove.

After spending a week in the desert living with the new 24" round table in the U dinette all I can do is give it.
The scale of the table is perfect, it can be removed and stored quickly, works awesome with the filler board in either position, just the right size for a couple, on and on.
This so far has been the best bang for the buck on a modification that cost under $30 that I've done.
