Thoughts on expanding fridge/freezer

Hi,

I am the happy owner of a 2008 15 foot Escape. I currently have a Domestic fridge installed, but am considering buying a larger/better fridge freezer (and removing the shelf above that is for the microwave, which we have never used).

Has anyone tried this before? I'm guessing yes, so was hoping someone had some pointers.

Bigger is not always better. Some of us like the smaller Escapes.

If thinking about replacing your fridge in your 15', I would make sure that you check the width of the new fridge and see what models of replacement fridge could fit through the door of your 15'. That is likely to be a limiting factor in what you can do. Other issues that I see is the size and position of the vents for the current fridge on the 15' may not be suitable for a much larger replacement fridge. Get the installation manuals for any replacement fridge being considered and make sure that the venting requirements are compatible with your existing fridge.

It is possible some 15’s came with a Dometic 4 cf as an option rather rhan the standard 3cf which I assume you have. Suggest you inquire with Escape as to whether the 4 would work for you. Otherwise I suggest measuring the width of your fridge and seeing what alternatives are out there. Companies such as ARB make good stand alone models that you could use to supplement your current fridge if you have room to carry it.
