agree with you..was not criticizing ETI, but rather hoping there was an easier way to get perhaps better tires at trailer pickup and as a buyer trying to eliminate redundant efforts and additional logistics where possible

A few months ago someone posted their 21 with some really spiffy wheels; the same manufacturer as the aluminum wheels. That owner took the wheels to ETI and they installed them. In my case that would mean extra day(s) in a motel in Chilliwack. Probably on the 2017 It's Friday site but I didn't go back far enough to find it.

I cannot recall anyone having issue to date with the tires Escape sells, with most required change due to age long before wear or failure becomes an issue. I do agree with using something good, and I believe this is what they use. Sure there is better, but it might be overkill.

That $70 per tire price reduction for them to mount rims and tires you personally select does not seem that bad. I think once you get to this stage of customizing, there would be a huge difference in what folks would want.

I remember that well, nice looking rims too. I don't understand the reason for added days of stay in Chilliwack though. If you wanted the same, you could either bring them with you, or if bought locally have them paid for and mounted ahead of time so pickup would be just a few minutes.

I never saved a lot having them eliminate the batteries, but I brought my own with me and they installed on the spot.

Back in 2006 when Goodyear Marthons were exploding on Casitas I hauled tires mounted on rims to Rice Texas for our pick up. Casita would not install them or let me install them on their property because they said it was a libality. I took a floor jack and swapped them out in the campground. If ETI will credit anything and install your rims and tires you are ahead of what any other manufacturer will do for you.

etrailer has some really nice wheel/tire combinations and can ship most of their products out of a warehouse in Ontario. I wonder if a shipment to ETI could be coordinated during the build or near trailer pickup date? Once Reace receives them they could be put right on the trailer. You get what you want, and ETI doesn't have to store them.

Steve, Is this the post, and are these the rims, you were referring to?

Look also a few posts below that (#3070) for a little more detail on how Ken pulled that off at the time. I've put different models of HiSpec wheels on trailers and been very happy with them.

That's it!!! I want those wheels but I'll probably have to wait until the first set wears out. I'm getting the stock wheels.

Throw the stock wheels in the back of the truck after installing the preferred ones and put them up on Craig's List when you can.
Son-in-law sold my almost worn out tires from my RAV for $140 to a guy who was turning in a lease Lexus and wanted to keep his good tires. There is a market.

OP here. Thanks everyone for the feedback. I already have my Escape 17B. I was just looking to upgrade my tires. I was a little reluctant posting a question about wheels and tires because I know how sticky of a subject it is based on what I have read on other forums. This post did help because I did not know that Carlise now has the new Radial Trail HD with the 81 mph speed rating. I believe this is higher speed rating than the Carlise's on my trailer now. The reason I was looking to maybe upgrade to an LT or 16 inch rim was because at this time last year I couldn't find anything in the 205/75R/15 with a speed rating higher than 65 mph. Not that I will travel 80 mph pulling the trailer but it is nice to know that when I need to pass someone I can get up to 70-75ish without much worry. Thanks again

Chris in my opinion, those occasional speeds over 65 to pass are not a problem. The 65 mph rating is meant that that tire can handle 65 sustained at full load and at temperature extremes. Under inflation and very high temperatures are much more likely to cause damage in my understanding

This is another of my favorite HiSpec rims that we put on our aluminum fishing boat trailer (5 spokes matching 5 lugs). Would probably look sharp on an Escape, too (I should have shined it up a bit for the photo).

When I started looking to replace my 14" rims with 15" on our 17B, I was amazed at how many choices there were for trailer rims. I bought the tires and wheels from Discount Tires Direct and they gave me a great deal but buying the package from them.

My goodness those are very nice looking wheels. Why thank you Miss. Do they match the wheels on your beautiful Toyota tow vehicle? Why yes, yes they do. You must be from Wisconsin, you have good taste and such good manners.

Our new 21 will be more modest with plain vanilla wheels, maybe I should paint them black so I could blend in with the local Amish buggies.

To really blend in in Amish country, I'm guessing it will take about a 6-horse hitch to pull your 21'. I'm sure your Amish neighbors can set you up!
