Umbra Coat Hooks

Hi,

I've read much about the ETI price increases on the forum. We just ordered an additional rack of retractable coat hooks from the Umbra website. These are the same hooks that Escape uses. I came across some sale items that might appeal to future or current Escape owners. Escape charges $60 for their Umbra 3-hook units. Umbra is clearing some of their 5- and 8-hook units for half price, $30 for 8 hooks (with a choice of the 6 color combinations) and $17.50 for 5 hooks (with a choice of 2 color combinations). We ordered the natural shade, 5 hooks, at the regular price of $35.00.

Hope this helps someone save a few dollars.

Cheers,
Darrell

Thanks Darrell! We ordered a mini-cubby that matches our coat hooks to hang inside the trailer door.

If you are going to cut them down to fit your spaces & needs, remember there is a steel wire that serves as the hinge that runs the length of the hook. It does not do well with a power miter box saw!

Great! I believe that you were at the Mississippi River rally, don't know if Laura and I met you. At the rally, Pete and Lisa showed us their additional Umbra retractable coat hooks. They put a white set above the door to hang their clothes at night and also to hang a towel for the dog. The towel has grommets so it also acts as a drape. The other set of hooks, which matches their wood finish, attaches to the cabinet to the left of the door, near the floor. It's for shoes. Very good ideas.

Jon, thanks for the heads-up! I saw the rod after a piece of a rack broke about 4 days after picking up the trailer. As I was sitting down at the dinette, my jacket caught a lanyard hanging from a hook at the end of the rack, pulling on the hook with enough force to crack a thin piece of wood through which the rod runs. The wood limits the movement of the hook when it drops down. A couple of clamps and wood glue fixed it.

Keep in mind that ETI also installs them for the $60. Certainly not a complicated install but it does take someone's time.

I'm really glad you said that. I've been wanting a "natural" colored set of hooks all year and have yet to find a 3-hook set, so I started looking at the longer ones

Yes, we were at the Mississippi River Rendezvous! I don’t recall if we met. We’ve been putting our shoes under the first step up to the bed in our 5.0. Seems to work, but we do run a little tight on shoe space on our long trip. We are in PA for another week, then home.

I think I got all the stuff that failed or stopped working in the first 3,800 miles fixed and ready for the trip home.

Hope to see you at a future MRR! Thanks again for the link to the hooks.

I was thinking of getting a three-hook unit to match the one on the dinette wall in our 2019, but looking at the Umbra website, it looks totally different, with no wood-color option, and no compartment behind the hooks. Time changes, I guess.

Yes, I too would like an Umbra mini cubby in natural, but they haven’t been available for a year and a half.

I ordered some of these... I'm going to keep one and give the others as Christmas presents. The grandkids will like those little 'climbing guy' hooks, I think. Gee, maybe something will even get hung up instead of tossed on the floor!

Check out these options. We purchased the 5 hook coat hanger last week in natural.
They also have warm and walnut options. Please see photos and links below.
