Under Bed Drawers

Our 19 layout has the dinette and bed flipped such the dinette is in the back. Getting to the storage area under the bed was a bit of a pain, having to lift the bed all the time. So...I put in a couple drawers...

Looks like a good job.

Have you figured out how you're going to latch them? I when with barrel latches, but on occasion they manage to bounce open...

They're on self closing slides. I'm hoping that will be enough to keep them closed.

The slides are ball bearing type slides. They support 100 lbs. Got them at Home Depot. The slides are 28" though the drawer on the left is 36" deep and the drawer on the right is 30" deep (because it opens opposite the sink cabinet I had to make it a little shorter to get it in and out).

We had carpet there and bins. The bins slid in and out easily on the carpet, if someone had drawers with no slides.

I constructed. A single large drawer for storage under the bed on our 19.
I used tow “silly sliders” under the drawer.
“Silly Sliders” can be purchased at Canadian Tire, or stores selling winter sports equipment.
Children sit on them to slide down a hill on snow.
They do not wear out and can be used for other things, such as cutting boards, and pulling skidoo on.
Any way my drawer is easy to pull out and push in.
I installed a lock hasp to hold the drawer on quick stops.

Ultimately, I did need to add latch's to keep the drawers closed when traveling. I used simple shed strap and lock hasp. I put the straps on the inside front of the drawer and the hasp on the underside of the drawer header. The strap is long enough there is space enough to reach into the drawer and put a carabiner where one would normally put a lock on the hasp. Hope that makes sense...
