Under Bed Storage

After our third camping trip with our trailer we decided that we needed to come up with a better solution than just throwing things under the bed. Inspired by many of the modifications that some of you have posted on the forum, I came up with my own take. If your location is like mine, the cost of lumber is outrageous right now, so I started looking into some other options.

I ended up finding some molded plastic trays from global industrial, they are the perfect size to fit under our bed side-by-side. The trays are slick enough that I do not believe they will ever harm the floor under the bed, if that should be a consideration at all since I don’t think anyone’s ever going to see it again.

I purchased some non-rotating casters off of Amazon. They provide two separate functions, the first is that when the tray gets pulled out they roll along the floor, the second is that they actually are what keeps the tray from sliding during transportation and knocking the door is open. I positioned the casters on the tray right up at the edge so that they would stay in contract with the small little wall underneath the cabinet doors.

I like this solution, so does my wife. It was right around 100 bucks to do the whole thing.

Thank you for this site and your explanation of what you did! I need a little wider for my totes and laundry basket and this will meet our needs.

I find that with casters, you put them at the back but not the front. When you pick up the front, the back just rolls out and they don’t slide in travel. Under my bed, I keep a 6 gallon water jug, a 6 gallon grey tank container. I keep a small rope on the handles to pull them out.
