voltage regulator versus dinosaur ignitor board

Hello

We're newbies that learned so much from the thread on potentially blowing circuit boards on the furnace and stove in our still to be built 5.0 when charging with solar at 14V at above.

We will have the same set up at Perry Butler with 2 6V Silcone Dioxide Batteries and a Victron Charge Controller and Shunt. Our batteries will charge in the 14 to 14.8V range.

We plan to boondock as much as possible and would like to stay plugged in to shore power on the infrequent occasions when we are plugged in without worrying about blowing circuit boards.

Would our least expensive and most efficient option be to buy two dinosaur ignitor boards and change out the circuit boards on the furnace and cooktop? or would we be better off with a voltage regulator which sounds like might be not absolutely necessary.

Are there any other appliances whose circuit boards fail above 13V?

Many many thanks for bringing important issues like this to light for we novices.

We are very grateful!

Atwood AFSAD12 furnace

The dinosaur boards are robust and can handle solar charging voltages but - kinda expensive compared to a voltage regulator.

I have been installing ones similar to this one for four years - all are still working. They were about $10 when I started buying them.

Ebay has them too.
